Nintendo HAS to Have a Proper E3 Press Conference This Year

Added: 25.04.2014 3:00 | 20 views | 0 comments

Nintendo bucked the trend last year by not holding a press conference at E3. Instead, the company decided to save some money by releasing a pre-recorded Nintendo Direct, which was an utter disaster. The stream suffered under the weight of thousands tuning in simultaneously, resulting in a frustrating experience that was only exacerbated by the fact that the reveals were disappointing as well. Shouting across a Los Angeles hotel room in an effort to figure out what Nintendo was announcing only to find out that Retro Studios was making yet another 2D side-scrolling Donkey Kong Country was heart-breaking to say the least, and certainly not how I had hoped to spend the first morning the expo opened its doors.

Why Wii Need Ubisoft

The Wii U is having a bit of a rough time. While its a bit of a cliche to mention that in a Nintendo article, its hard to ignore their relatively weak software release schedule of 2014, which is not really the improvement that everyone was expecting. Sure, the spectacular Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was released in February and Mario Kart 8 drops at the end of May but, other than that, what else is there? Its evident that Nintendo cant seem to keep up with a consistent release calendar, despite promising gamers that they learned from their mistakes for the second time regarding software droughts, the first being with the 3DS. Besides playing some great Game Boy Advance titles and watching Robocop on Netflix, the last time I invested in something was Ubisofts Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag just to clarify, I bought this after Donkey Kong.
