Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Review-JPS

"Growing up in the 90s, Donkey Kong Country from Rareware was revolutionary for its time with pre-rendered 3D graphics on the Super Nintendo. In comparison to other platformers like Super Mario World, it was absolutely incredible.. After three very successful entries in the 16-bit era, as well as some Game Boy entries, the series moved to the Nintendo 64 with Donkey Kong 64, though it was very different from the past games. When Microsoft bought Rare, many were worried that we may never see a return to this classic series, but luckily that was not the case as Retro Studios released the very well received Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Nintendo Wii back in 2010. Last year, many were surprised to learn that Retro Studios was bringing Donkey Kong Country to the HD age with a sequel known as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze." -JPS

Wii U hardware sales up by 1,600 week on week to 8,782 units.

Nintendo's latest effort to ignite Wii U hardware sales brought only a 1,600 unit week-on-week gain, bring weekly sales to to 8,782 units.

Super Mario 3D World was the Wii U's second best-seller at No.12 with only 6,952 units, bringing its life to date figure up to 489,596.

Square Enix's Dragon Quest Monster 2 on 3DS is at No.1, shifting 118,427 units in its second week.

3DS was also the top-selling system with 39,716 units, more than double that of its nearest rival the PS Vita (18,348).

PS4 launches on February 22 so the chart should be shaken...

GaminRealm: "Its too early to make 100% absolute statements, but the latest Media Create sales shows that Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze has so far failed to make any significant difference in the Wii Us sales. While the game itself has managed to sell pretty well within the first 3 days of its launch in Japan, Wii U sales were increased by only a factor of 1.2%."
