PSNStores - Despite some of my frustration with DuckTales Remastered its been really cool to see two Disney platformers come back both within weeks of each other. Castle of Illusion takes you on a quest to save Minnie from Mizrabel who is threatening to suck the beauty out of Minnie for herself. Just as in the original, Mickey Mouse will need to collect seven gems hidden throughout the Castle of Illusions in order to create a bridge to where Minnie is being held. This isnt just a remake though. What became evident almost immediately is that Castle of Illusions subverts your expectations of what constitutes a remake.

Corsual's EXP writes: "Having recently played through the DuckTales: Remastered release, I was eager to get my hands on Castle of Illusion: starring Mickey Mouse. It's another of remake of an ancient classic, and I wanted to see how they'd handled it.
You see, publishers have been released HD remakes of classic games for a while now, but there's a huge difference between a HD remake and an actual remake - DuckTales opted to re-release the exact same game as the NES version with new artwork, music and cutscenes (and the addition of a lobby section allowing you to select your level and purchase unlockables); however, Castle of Illusion went for a new style altogether.
You can take a look at Castle of Illusion in today's Corsual Let's Play VOD:

This summer has seen the resurgence of two of gamings most beloved classic platformers. First came DuckTales Remastered, a solid and true remake that was unfortunately too frustrating and dated to recommend wholeheartedly. Now, theres another retro revisit from the Magical Kingdom to speak of: 1990s Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, which debuted on the SEGA Genesis before being ported to the companys handheld Game Gear.
