"DuckTales remastered is old-school platforming at its best, doing justice to the original while adding gorgeous visuals and extra content into the mix for good measure."

EGM: "Capcom gives fans a beautifully remastered version of the late-80s megahit NES game that proved Nintendo wasnt the only company that could make great platformers. Though a bit short, DuckTales still holds up where it counts, with tight controls, fun levels, and a story like a vintage comic book. The game might be straightforward and feel a little dated, but bouncing through the Amazon, the Himalayas, the Moon, and more will have you singing the iconic theme song in your head."

OXM: "Whether you think the changes go too far or dont go far enough, its impossible to argue that DuckTales: Remastered isnt loads of fun, a delightful trip back to an era where simply jumping in the right spot could reveal copious hidden goodies. Whether youve played the original or not, this remake is worth every Number-One Dime."

OXM UK: "It's a faithful remake, but it dredges up a lot of what was wrong with the original game, and the fun lasts barely as long as it'll take you to hum the theme tune."

GR:The original NES version of DuckTales was the exception that proved the rule. Not only was it a fantastic licensed game, but it was a title that was thoroughly enjoyable even if you didnt give a duck about the property it was attached to, allowing it to stand the test of time and be revered as one of the best games that 8-bit had to offer. Nostalgia is a funny thing, however. Is it possible for Capcom and WayForward to take something that worked 24 years ago, modernize it, and yet retain the heart of what made it so beloved in the first place? The answer, without a doubt, is yes. DuckTales Remastered is a retro revival done right.

JS:Capcom's DuckTales for the Nintendo Entertainment System was a masterwork of 8-bit game design, combining a beloved Disney cartoon series with exceptional platforming action. In DuckTales Remastered, developer WayForward sought to improve upon the much-loved title, which also happens to be my personal favorite game of all time.

It's all a Duck blur.
DuckTales Remastered exists in an odd kind of bubble. Its dialogue, added specifically for this 2013 re-release, is incredibly, inoffensively Disney in tone, making the game sound like it's being aimed squarely at kids. But really, there can be very few people born after the nineties that can claim to have any idea as to what DuckTales actually is, and thus, youngsters are unlikely to have any inclination to play an XBLA remake.

ScrewAttack: "Capcom and Way Forward have brought Ducktales into the modern era with Ducktales Remastered. If Craig's feelings are any indication, they've done a pretty good job."
