DuckTales Remastered Review | EuroGamer

EuroGamer: "For its target audience - those late 20s, early 30s gamers who remember blowing on the NES cart's connectors when it wouldn't load - the impact of WayForward's high-purity dose of old-fashioned platforming has been diluted by the new wrapping. Even those new backgrounds, as lovely as they are, pull the eye away from the parts of the level that have actually been recreated. For the Pixar generation, meanwhile, there's just a quaint, old-school platformer here, starring a character of whom they've never heard."

ScrewAttack: "Capcom and Way Forward have brought Ducktales into the modern era with Ducktales Remastered. If Craig's feelings are any indication, they've done a pretty good job."

Edge:Reboots, remakes, reimaginings: contemporary gaming seems to spend as much time harking to its past as looking to its future. A remaster, however, sounds like a relatively new idea: an old classic made to look and sound its best by those hoping to preserve, or even reaffirm, its place in history. At least, until you realise the same is true of just about every HD edition weve seen in the past few years.

DuckTales Remastered is a shallow reimagining of the classic adventure that fails to justify its existence in the modern era.

DuckTales would've been better left to 1980s nostalgia.
