Review: Dynasty of Dungeons

The opening to Dynasty of Dungeons is a bit confusing, and I don't mean the plot is hard to follow.
It's more that you're told to do a thing, then do another thing, and there are fancy animations, but no real context is given to your actions.
Thankfully that confusion is short-lived, and once the dream sequence (ugh) is over you're given proper instruction. The core gameplay is still about a...

| Thankful for these games in 2014

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:
For those of us in the United States, Thanksgiving weekend is upon us. While I like to think of this holiday as the three important F's (Food, Football and a Four day weekend), a few of us on the team thought it would be fun to look back on what games in 2014 made us thankful. Some are the usual suspects like Dragon Age or Call of Duty, but some surprises like Spacebase and Dungeons of the Endless made the cut as well.

| Icewind Dale Review | Hardcore Droid

Hardcore Droid: "Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition is the second of the five classic Infinity Engine RPGs to come out for Android, following the release of Baldurs Gate Enhanced Edition earlier this year. Icewind Dale was designed to be much more combat-heavy than the other Infinity Engine games: where those games focused on story and characterization, Icewind Dale focused on pure dungeon crawling and advanced combat. Because its based on early Dungeons Dragons rules, Icewind Dale offers a nearly unmatched level of strategic depth and some of the best dungeon crawling ever designed. While its not easy to learn for players who dont already know the rules and shouldnt really be played on a phone, Icewind Dale is an amazing RPG that deserves its classic status."

| Review: Dragon Age: Inquisition (Sony PlayStation 4) - Digitallydownloaded

Digitallydownloaded:
"I love genuine RPGs, of the kind developed by a studio with a passion for recreating the classic pen-and-paper Dungeons Dragons experience. These kinds of projects are sadly rare now, as the industry has gradually moved towards more linear narrative storytelling and action-based gameplay, but there are a couple of holdouts for which I am very grateful. The Elder Scrolls, for instance, continues to aim towards an open ended RPG experience, and while Dragon Age II suggested BioWare was sliding the wrong way towards 'modern' gaming trends, Dragon Age: Inquisition came to us with a promise that lessons had been learned and it would be a 'classic' BioWare project."

| Magic 2015 - Duels of the Planewalkers - Xbox One Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:
We will first take a look at the core game, but we also had a chance to examine the Garruk's Revenge expansion DLC.
Magic: The Gathering is one of those hobbies of mine that dates back quite a few years. Most of our nights playing Dungeons Dragons started (or ended) with some hands of Magic being played among us (when we were not playing rounds of Mario Kart 64 and GoldenEye). I have started and stopped over the years, adding cards and selling some along the way. The fundamental game remains the same, despite some rules clarifications (goodbye Interrupts) and new mechanics (hello Planeswalkers). Magic 2015 - Duels of the Planeswalkers is a mostly faithful recreation of the game that does several things right over prior years, but also stumbles in a few places as well.
