ZTGD | Funk of Titans Review

Drew Leachman writes: When I first saw I would be reviewing Funk of Titans, I was under the impression that it was a standard 2D platformer with a few combat elements thrown in. Much to my surprise when I booted up the game, Perseus, the main protagonist, runs automatically, with me controlling the jumping and quick attacks as he runs through levels. So, here we have an auto runner set in a funky ancient Greece where Perseus looks like Black Dynamite and must defeat titans of music genres via dance-offs. Strangely enough, I actually liked it.

PSXE:
"Before the Tomb Raider reboot, the series was sort of in limbo. The big-budget blockbusters that defined the 90s were starting to fade in terms of quality and popularity. To shake things up, developer Crystal Dynamics delivers Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a top-down dungeon-crawler with a hefty emphasis on combat and puzzle-solving. This refreshing adventure gave Lara fans a new perspective on the standard Tomb Raider structure and style and you know, it worked exceedingly well."

Crystal Dynamics brings us another chapter in Lara Crofts many adventures, this time following the formula they used in Guardian of Light. Temple of Osiris is a downloadable isometric action, platform, puzzle adventure that returns to the Tomb Raider roots of well raiding tombs. Whats different about these mini-adventures is that theres a focus on co-op support rather than a pure single-player campaign, so does it deliver a fulfilling experience?

When gamers think of Lara Croft and Tomb Raider, the majority of people will reminisce about the classic PS1 titles or look back on the 2013 reboot. However back in 2010 Square Enix attempted to slightly shift this perception with the release of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a co-operative action game with a fixed isometric camera. Now four years later, developers Crystal Dynamics are back with a sequel called Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, which brings the co-operative experience and isometric camera to the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
