| Console Monster - BioShock Infinite Review

Console Monster - It has been a while since we last set foot in a world of scares and uncertainty, seven years in fact (since the original BioShock). BioShock Infinite is set almost fifty years before the events of Rapture and, as always, it starts with a lighthouse. You play as Booker DeWitt and it is your job to retrieve Elizabeth and pay off a debt to unscrupulous individuals. When ringing the bells at the top of the lighthouse for the first time and you see the red lights blink in the sky with musical sounds - this reminds you of the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind when they communicate with the spacecraft and its visual light show.

Game Informer - When I heard Booker DeWitt would always have the lovely and energetic Elizabeth at his side during BioShock Infinite, I was worried. Not because I didn't find Elizabeth magnetic (I did), but whenever you are tasked with escorting a character through danger, that companion can become a burden.

Analog Addiction writes: "Bioshock Infinite has been such a long time coming that youd be forgiven for thinking youd never be able to play the game. First revealed in August 2010, the game has undergone many changes, most notably with the appearance of Elizabeth over the years as well as the floating city of Columbia itself. Before its announcement, the game was already in development for some time so its an impressive display of talent that Irrational has not only managed to get Bioshock Infinite out of the door, theyve also managed to keep it relevant. Irrational have made sure that Bioshock Infinite not only looks and plays at the same level as games in 2013, theyve put out one that looks better and plays better than most."

| Smoke and mirrors: How BioShock Infinite tricks you into liking Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a wonderfully written character whose interaction with protagonist Booker DeWitt forms the core of BioShock Infinites tale and is all the better for it. Shes easy to care about and hard to forget. As far as A.I. partners in games go, Elizabeth is probably the best.
But the developers cheated to achieve that.
