| Pixelitis Picks: When good franchises go bad on mobile

"There are just some things that should just stay on consoles.
Thats right. Sorry Square Enix. Sorry Atlus. We know that Shin Megami Tenseis first English port will be in the form of an iOS and Android version and it could be decently playable, but were not holding our breath here.
While its admirable to see some ports of old school games for new audiences, it just seems shameful to see things like sprites getting watered down (re: Final Fantasy VI) or changing games to feature in-app purchases. Games with illustrious histories that stir up emotions within its fanbase deserve to be played, but maybe not with microtransactions. Nostalgia does not need to be nickeled and dimed. However, its been done. And itll probably happen again.
Either way, these travesties have lingered on in the collective gaming consciousness, and beloved franchises should be spared from the malignant disease that is mobile platforming.

Added: 04.03.2014 16:15 | 7 views | 0 comments
[Gamer Attitude] Melissa Welliver reviews the cilling conclusion to season one of The Last Door.
Horror. Suspense. Twins holding hands with bird heads for faces. These were the events that lead to the dramatic conclusion of season one of The Last Door, The Game Kitchens incredible crowd-funded browser game. A game that places the focus primarily on storytelling, with only basic yet strangely horrifying pixels to depict the action, has certainly made its mark on the internet community.
The Last Door follows the story of Jeremiah Devitt, an English gentleman living in nineteenth century England. After he discovers the lifeless corpse of an old friend under mysterious circumstances, Devitt must follow the bloody path of clues to its grizzly end, which we finally got to see in Chapter Four: Ancient Shadows.
