The games Tetsuya Nomuras interested in are not what you expect

Added: 09.08.2015 21:18 | 15 views | 0 comments

GR: "Tetsuya Nomura, the creative mind behind the Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the Disney/Final Fantasy-infused Kingdom Hearts series (including its latest entry, Kingdom Hearts 3) has proved his tastes can stretch from cartoon capers to weird new interpretations (just look at the former FF character designer's take on Catwoman) - but his gaming appetite is far broader than you think. Don't believe us? Take a look at his two favourite games from E3 2015. "Horizon [Zero Dawn] and Ghost Recon Wildlands piqued my interest."

A musicologist's look at 'Final Fantasy VI'

Added: 09.08.2015 20:20 | 50 views | 0 comments

Classical MPR: "I met Ryan Thompson shortly after Top Score began in 2011. At the time, Ryan lived in the Twin Cities. He's a PhD candidate in musicology at the University of Minnesota, with a special interest in ludomusicology. If you're unaware what that last word means, you're not alone. Ludomusicology is a growing field in which musicologists study the impact of music in video games. When I first met Ryan, he'd been working on a paper about the opera scene in Final Fantasy VI. Final Fantasy VI came out in 1994, and I was not a gamer in 1994. I had no idea the opera existed until I met Ryan. I invited him to come to the studios here at MPR to talk about the unusual musical event (for a video game), and learned a great deal about how the opera mirrors the plot of the entire game."

Should Final Fantasy VII Get Dramatic Changes?

Added: 09.08.2015 19:18 | 31 views | 0 comments

411mania: Cue a ton of internet hatred coming Something that many of us that write about video games knew was coming, is already getting a ton of nasty verbiage on the internet. The people in charge of developing the Final Fantasy VII Remake have come out and stated that Dramatic changes will be made to the combat system. Tetsuya Nomura says that the game will still be recognizable though. Do you think the game could still work today with the Active Time Battle system? What are some of the changes you think could happen? Is there anything about the game that could use changing (it doesnt just have to be about the battle system.)
