Assassins Creed Unity Review | GES

GES writes: "The French Revolution is probably one of the most iconic Revolutions in our History, so far. Its no wonder Ubisoft chose this moment to use in the next instalment of the Assassins Creed series. Unity is only available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One so we had some high expectations for it and especially after Assassins Creed Black Flag. In my opinion the game didnt do to bad, it has a lot of things going for it but there are some bad ones as well."

Lazygamer:
"I received my copy of Assassins Creed Unity later than the rest of the reviewing world, it seems. I was actually happy about this it meant that I played the entirety of the game after the Day One patch was released. So, is Ubisofts most ambitious Assassins Creed game worthwhile, or does it still smell like a French cliché?
Assassins Creed Unity takes place during the French revolution and follows Arno, a descendent of an assassin who is actually taken in by a Templar upon his fathers death. When his adoptive father is also killed, Arno seeks redemption and revenge while teaming up with his adoptive sister/lover to do so. Its an extremely basic and mundane story with the lead character having the now typical level of Ubisoft-created personality, which is to say none. There are brief moments of charm between him and Elise, but the facial motion capture and voice performance of Elise leaves much wanting, making the flirtation feel even more awkward than the fact...

| Assassin's Creed Unity - PS4 Review (Console Monster)

Console Monster writes: "It only feels like yesterday since I was gallivanting around the ocean seas in Assassin's Creed Black Flag. Even though I was strict on tackling the main story missions, I still to this day I havent found the time to completed it. But like Christmas, another Assassin's Creed is just around the corner, and this year brings two! It's time to burn the Black Flag and raise the French Tricolour - a flag born by the Paris militia during the French Revolution, an era in which we will be partaking in some assassin-based shenanigans in Assassins Creed Unity."

Assassins Creed: Unity is the latest game in the now 7 year old franchise and brings you to Paris during the French Revolution. You play as Arno, a suave and cocky young French man whose father is tragically killed by an unknown villain. As Arno grows up, he realises who his father was and begins to find out who is really behind the French Revolution. Its a pretty simple plot that pans into a rather lacklustre story that fails to get really exciting in any way, shape or form.
Its not helped by Ubisofts relentless desire to shoehorn in the Animus/Abstergo nonsense which, as usual, jarringly breaks up the action and plot progression, killing the sense of immersion that you could be having as Arno running around during the French Revolution. Its entirely unnecessary and is the franchises continued hindrance.

take on the role of Arno in Assassins Creed Unity which is set in late 18th century France, and takes us to the heart of the brutal and bloody French Revolution which took France from a monarchy ruled by Louis XVI to a republic ruled by the people

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"The Assassins Creed games have dropped players in the middle of the Crusades, traverse the streets of Florence, made them fight through the American Revolution, and even a captain of our own pirate ship in the Caribbean. Now with Assassins Creed Unity, Ubisoft is bringing players to the French Revolution in their first title developed solely for current gen consoles. The question is, has the company succeeded with Unity?"
