Face-Off: Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare on PS4

Added: 30.08.2014 15:12 | 13 views | 0 comments

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare made a solid debut when the game launched on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with PopCap successfully re-imagining its mobile strategy game as an addictive, criminally overlooked tower defence-style shooter. While the 360 struggled with the demanding Frostbite 3 engine, the experience shined on the Xbox One, where the massive jump in processing power delivered frequently smooth 60fps gameplay at a reasonably sharp 900p native resolution. Announced as a timed exclusive for Microsoft platforms, Garden Warfare made its way over to the PC back in June and only just launched on Sony's two consoles in the last week. But despite the delay, the game was aplanned as a multiplatform project from the start, and PopCap Games appears keen to get the most out of the PS4 regardless.

MMGN writes: Dragon Age: Inquisition developer Bioware has had its first experience with DICE's game engine, Frostbite. You might recognise the name as the driving force behind the Battlefield series. Frostbite 3, the engine's latest version, features Destruction 4.0, which enhances in-game destruction significantly over the engine's predecessors. The engine certainly felt at home driving a series like Battlefield -- it was, after all. created as an engine for shooters -- but how has it influenced development for Dragon Age: Inquisition?

Dragon Age: Inquisition interview - How has Frostbite changed Bioware's approach to development?

MMGN.com writes: Bioware's first full release since 2012's Mass Effect 3 brings with it the expectation of redemption. The developer's first foray using the Frostbite engine, and its first true open-world RPG, could reignite interest in the Dragon Age series, which hasn't seen a release since 2011's Dragon Age II. Coming to all major consoles (excluding Wii U, including PS4 and Xbox One), the game will hopefully be a good introduction to the new generation for the acclaimed developer. MMGN sat down with producer Cameron Lee at Gamescom to talk briefly about the evolution of the genre, working with Frostbite, and that ending.

The folk of RPGSite have posted a rollickin' good interview with BioWare's Mike Laidlaw about Dragon Age: Inquisition, which includes thoughts on the Xbox 360 version of the game and how the developer's modifications will benefit EA and DICE's all-purpose Frostbite engine.
