Metal Gear Week: The Top 50 Moments of Metal Gear Solid 4

Scott Russell writes: "In celebration of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pains release this week, the team at Power Up Gaming are recounting our love for the previous games in the series. While my opinion may be entirely divisive amongst the Metal Gear community, I still feel that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the best of the series, and it is of course my favourite game of all time. Its moment to moment stealth action may be lacking in length, but its endless cutscenes and dialogue separate these vignettes of play with unsettling tension, paramount emotion and insanely superb minutiae. It can be seen as a masterpiece from almost every angle, and its difficult to select singular instances of greatness. As a result, I have produced a list of MGS4s top 50 unforgettable moments; a fitting number that represents its grandeur through precision and wide-spreading remembrance."

EG:
The future will be imperfect. All great science fiction shows this, from the ever-widening wealth disparities of Neal Stephenson, through the anthropological miscommunications of Ursula Le Guin to the consumerist, drug-addled dystopias of Philip K. Dick. Technology won't fix all our problems, change won't always be positive and progress is a subjective concept. Tomorrow won't be easy.

NZG:
Crowdfunded indie games are the heroes we gamers need: they bring fresh ideas into an industry that at the top level is hell-bent on rehashing the Cold and Gulf wars for the umpteenth time. They have the ability to refresh tired mechanics and break longstanding conventions and expectations. Red Goddess: Inner World is one such crowdfunding lovechild.

David Tierney writes: "I tend to reject fanboyism; I couldnt care less about the console wars, have no favourite game company, and I have about as much loyalty as a hungry cat. Nevertheless, the Metal Gear Solid franchise drives me near to the point of making an exception.
Strangely enough though, out of all the franchises amazing titles, Metal Gear Solid 2 happens to be my favourite entry. I know it probably shouldnt be. I know Snake Eater advanced the series gameplay so much further, and that Guns of the Patriots has many of the most breath-taking moments in the series. Damn it though, MGS2 messed with my head, and thats powerful medicine."
