"Do you like over the top action games? Do you like big guns? Do you like total chaos? Well, Tower of Guns offers all that good stuff and makes you feel like the next action hero. Tower of Guns provides an arcade, fast paced and incredibly satisfying roguelike experience which you wont find in all those serious, need-to-save-the-world kind of games."

Jeff Ellis: There was a time that Tower of Guns would have been par for first-person shooters. You begin on the ground floor of a tower and proceed to climb to the top, battling an army of murderous robots along the way. There are guns, but none of them are familiar to what we know a gun to be. You can jump not once, not twice, but as many times as you have been able to scrounge together jumping power ups. The story can literally be toggled on or off. It is all very Spartan in its design and very, very, hectic.

Justin Celani writes: Hearing the title of the game, folks might think that this is a balls to the wall action game. I mean a tower of guns? Sign me up! Yet what we have here is a game that takes the idea of rogue elements and first person shooting and combines the two. Unfortunately its left a sour taste in my mouth that had me wanting so much more.

SP:
Rogue-like games are quite popular nowadays, particularly when it comes to puzzle platformers, while quite a few other independent developers are trying to recreate old-school first-person shooter experiences from the past, such as Doom, Painkiller, or Unreal Tournament.

Tower of Guns might not be for you. In fact, in all likelihood, it probably isnt. With its rough presentation, non-existent narrative and tame firearms, Tower of Guns is about as far from the comfortably glitzy Hollywood excess of contemporary shooters such as Battlefield Hardline and Call of Duty as a game possibly can be. If youre still hanging about after that rather sizeable caveat though, then Tower of Guns with its roguelike elements, bite-sized gameplay and engaging progression systems might be just what the doctor ordered.

Shawn of Middle Of Nowhere Gaming had this to say about Tower of Guns. "Tower of Guns has its flaws, but I keep going back to it. The fun of just one more round at the tower keeps me from putting it down. With a nice variety of weapons, perks and items to get, it provides an experience in one round that you may not see for the rest of the game. It has great humor, an impressive art style, movement that feels right at home and so many moments where I was trapped in a corner and forced to shoot my way out. If only it added more things like co-op and fixed things like framerate, then I could see myself playing it more than I already am."
