Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review For A Few Dollars Less | GameFront

GameFront writes:
'Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is built around one truly great idea: a frame story. At the beginning of the game, grizzled bounty hunter Silas Greaves walks into a bar in Abilene, Kansas and sits down. In exchange for a succession of free drinks, he regales the other patrons with tales of his past exploits, which include a series of showdowns against some of the Wild Wests most recognizable desperadoes.'

PA:It's been an interesting journey trying to convince gamers of the quality of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The previous Call of Juarez games have been uneven, and they have yet to make a sizable dent in the industry one way or the other. They're not quite good enough to rise above the news, but not quite bad enough to be considered total failures.

"Gunslinger's best qualities are its presentation. The cel-shaded visuals complement the narrative, which is told in comic-book panels between gameplay sections. The bright colors and cel-shaded look are appropriate for the hoaky story, which throws the kitchen sink full of Old West clichés at the audience."

About: "Call of Juarez: Gunslinger truly surprised me. It's not ambitious enough to compare to the best of the DLC titles on PSN but that doesn't mean I'm any less likely to fire it up when I have a few minutes to kill on a weeknight. And I do mean kill."

Gol Darnit if'n it couldn't make muster what it needed to get up the blood of this ol' cowpoke.
This week I played three games. Two of those games exemplified what I love in gaming, the ability of a piece of media to create emotional resonance through gameplay experiences. Playing not only offered me different choices in how to play through a mission, but also changed the way the environments reacted based on my play style, creating an immersive, dynamic world.
