Until Dawn is Scarily Good | CriticalIndieGamer

(CriticalIndieGamer)David Cages Quantic Dream, and their 2010 release Heavy Rain, finally gave us the realisation of the interactive movie or a game with a focus on dynamic storytelling, player choice and characterisation as opposed to traditional gameplay mechanics. Heavy Rain was a critical success, mostly lauded for bringing something completely new to the table and telling its story in a cinematic manner never before seen in a video game. Only Quantics own follow-up Beyond: Two Souls has really tried something similar on such a big scale (You can probably see where Im going with this) Until now that is! Supermassive Games builds on the groundwork laid out by Quantic Dream, exceeds it and gives gamers a unique, special experience in what will surely be their coming out party teen slasher, survival horror game Until Dawn.

Until Dawn (PS4) Review - JPS

Added: 02.09.2015 20:18 | 60 views | 0 comments

"Following the success of Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls on the PlayStation 3, a new developer called SuperMassive Games developed Until Dawn, a new interactive survival-horror game where it promises to deliver the same thrilling-experience similar to the two games from Quantic Dream. Giving the decisions on who dies and lives in the hands of the gamer, Until Dawn gives players the freedom to alter the flow of the story and see how it will end through its butterfly effect feature introduced in the game. If you are one of those gamers who love watching horror movies and get mad if your favorite character makes a dumb decision and dies due to it, Until Dawn will change everything as you will have to the power to control their decisions and fate." - JPS

Visual novels have found a nice home on the PS Vita. The handheld works well with them because it is very difficult to hold ones attention with a visual novel on a console. Heavy Rain and Murdered: Soul Suspect did alright on consoles but one can find themselves losing interest now and then, and swapping out to a more action oriented game.

Until Dawn (PS4) Review | VGChartz

Added: 31.08.2015 15:17 | 18 views | 0 comments

VGChartz's Karl Koebke: "Until Dawn may sound expensive given that it only takes 6-7 hours to play through, but there are still so few titles in this genre with such high production values that it's actually an easy recommendation for fans of the genre. The multi-character adventure style of gaming that was spearheaded by Heavy Rain is a perfect fit for the slasher/horror genre, and few games, or media experiences in general, are as intense. Its just unfortunate that multiple playthroughs cant maintain that same level of intensity.
