VRFocus - It's now become fairly clear that Samsung's upcoming smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), Gear VR, won't be launching in mid-October 2014 as initially thought. Neither Samsung nor partner Oculus VR have offered anything in the way of when the device might finally release, even with the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone with which it runs now rolling out around the globe. However a listing from a UK-based online retailer not only provides a price for the anticipated kit but also a release window and a bundle offer.

| Why Are Final Boss Fights So Terrible?
Added: 08.10.2014 20:12 | 6 views | 0 comments
EGMR writes: "Its often a flaw of us humans that we see the past better than it actually was and the present worse than it honestly is. However if theres one thing in our games that I feel is an exception to that, it would have to be boss fights. I can say that because my favourite game of all time is the Metal Gear Solid series, which contained some of the greatest boss fights ever to be put in games. However over the course of the last generation boss fights more and more seemed to be fizzling out of games, and today its pretty much safe to say that boss fights as we know them by tradition arent really a thing anymore. Sure we had Devil May Cry 4 and God of War III and some little rays of sunshine here and there with things like the Mr Freeze fight in Batman: Arkham City and DmC: Devil May Crys attempts at doing stuff, but largely boss fights have taken a back seat to new trends like cinematic set pieces and the like. And its absolutely not something I feel is a good thing f...

| Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments Review (PC) by CalmDownTom

"Charley gets inside Sherlock Holmes head.
I have always been a fan of the stories of Sherlock Holmes but I never did come across a game where I felt fully engrossed in the story like I do with the books. Any game I did find left me wanting more and I never could bring myself to finish them. It made me have a very sad face. However that was then and this is now."

| Review: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS - Destructoid
Added: 04.10.2014 13:12 | 12 views | 0 comments
"Super Smash Bros. and I go back a long way. When the first game was released in 1999, I didn't drive. Heck, I didn't even have a Nintendo 64 at that time. But I had a Smash Bros. addiction, and would spend hours upon hours at friends' houses, often staging sleepovers just so we could play more. It was probably the first game I ever put over a thousand hours into.
My Melee addiction was even worse. With wheels, I could drive to local tournaments and hone my craft. I had "training buddies" that I'd sit for hours and play with, trading new strategies along the way. I had groups who played all items on random levels, I had friends who played Final Destination no items only, and I had acquaintances who played a mix of both. However you shake it, Melee may be my most-played game of all time."

| Stronghold Crusader II Review | High Score Reviews
Added: 02.10.2014 13:12 | 25 views | 0 comments
There is no game that handles medieval castle simulation tied in with intriguing real time strategy quite like Stronghold. For about 15 years the folks at Firefly Studios have been churning out Stronghold games both good and bad for those of us who enjoy battling it out in the middle ages both online and offline. As of late however the games in the Stronghold franchise have not been received well. Stronghold 3 was a bug filled mess and frankly a disappointment for those of us who had been anticipating it for neigh on 5 years. Many were wondering whether or not Stronghold Crusader 2 would help set the franchise back in the spotlight for those looking for an RTS/simulator that involves castle building, fighting and economy management. However as the game has been moved into the 3D engine, many are worried as to whether or not the bugs and tedious issues plaguing the game will follow.

| NHL 15 Review [Capsule Computers]
Added: 30.09.2014 10:16 | 2 views | 0 comments
Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"Almost every sport in EA Sports line-up made the jump to next-gen consoles last year except for one glaring omission hockey. Considering the NHL game series has always been a stellar and consistently impressive series of titles, this lack of a next-gen version was quite strange. Now a year late to the party, EA Sports has released NHL 15 onto next-gen platforms with what they are saying is a major upgrade. However was everything spent on making the game look good while sacrificing everything else?"
