AusGamers has reviewed Sunset Overdrive and writes:
Sunset Overdrive may not be the deepest experience, but its a game that shows evidence of immaculate craft. Insomniac Games have always been good at excess, but Sunset Overdrive manages to take a series of absurd ideas and concepts and render them coherent, giving you a playground that constantly rewards your actions.

From the moment Sunset Overdrive was announced it was obvious that this wasnt going to be your standard Third Person Shooter, I still have fond memories of the trailer where the Fizzco Employee rushes in and saves what is clearly meant to be a guy from Call of Duty. Lets be honest though, anything developed by Insomniac Games is not going to be standard. I had been eagerly awaiting Sunset Overdrive to see whether or not it was as fun and open as it looked. Ive given it a good thrashing and the verdict is in its everything I hoped it would be and more!

The idea that Sunset Citythe locale of Sunset Overdriveis someones personal carnival is a metaphor that works pretty well; especially since the world is full of colourful things to see, set pieces with unique game mechanics to experience, and colourful people to blow up. Like carnivals, Sunset Overdrive also relies heavily on humour, but in Sunset Overdrive everyone plays the clown. Comedy is certainly a pillar that tries to hold up this game, but like a list of the games made by Insomniac it is hit or miss.

Bill Lavoy (Prima Games): Sunset Overdrive is an open world, third-person shooter created by Insomniac Games, and published by Microsoft Studios exclusively for the Xbox One. It was released in North America on October 28, 2014, and features both single-player, and co-operative modes.
With that technical mumbo-jumbo out of the way, let's move on to the fun. After all, Sunset Overdrive is non-stop, unapologetic fun. Just the way it should be.
When players jump into the action they'll find themselves scrambling to adjust to post-apocalyptic life in Sunset City. With a little help from their friends, Walter and Floyd, it won't be long before gamers around the globe are bouncing, grinding and slaying mutants. If you're still not sure what to expect, think of Sunset Overdrive as the Zombieland of video games.

Does Sunset Overdrive give you wiiiiiiiiings?.
An energy drink triggers the end of the world in Sunset Overdrive. A strange beverage to demonise, considering how often the games industry climbs into bed with them and how many games themselves attempt to simulate a high fructose rush. Many games pursue an instant high, letting you perform miraculous feats with lazy taps of a button. That it's mechanically easier to pull off Batman's martial arts or Assassin's parkour than it is to operate an actual ring pull is a sad sign of the times and something Insomniac is clearly rallying against. Not that the message is clear from the outset.

| Sunset Overdrive: Can Insomniac Sell On Microsoft Hardware?
Added: 28.10.2014 3:12 | 6 views | 0 comments
OnlySP: Sunset Overdrive is about to drop and the reviews are mostly stellar. I have to admit I was skeptical about this one but after the character redesign it was starting to look a bit better. The high scores are good news for the talented crew at Insomniac after their last game Fuse landed with a thud. It seems these guys are at their best when they go exclusive on hardware.
So now that they have a top notch exclusive on a Microsoft system instead of a Sony one Im left wondering if the dev will find a better home for sales there.

Sunset Overdrive is easily the most fun I've had with a shooter in a long time. Think of it this way. If you took BulletStorm, Crackdown, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater and morphed them into one, that game would be Sunset Overdrive. From the narration, to the game play Sunset Overdrive goes all out from beginning to end. Its punk rock sass and colorful world makes it feel like a new kind of art direction for the gaming medium. Sunset Overdrive is a breath of fresh air. This feels like the game that Insomniac has always strived to create, and with their luck they have struck gold.
