Official PlayStation Magazine: With a team consisting almost entirely of former Rare developers, Derby-based studio Playtonic Games is no stranger to crafting iconic characters. After all, this is the pool of talent that gave us Banjo, Kazooie and most of the modern Donkey Kong clan. So with its Kickstarter campaign for old school 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee bagging its £175k goal within 38 minutes of its launch, we're all beginning to wonder how the new buddy duo will fare in a genre typified by some of gaming's biggest names?

Added: 11.05.2015 8:17 | 8 views | 0 comments

One Angry Gamer "The ragdoll adventure game Deputy Dangle is a game that's been moving through the indie spaces towards its fourth quarter, 2015 release slowly and kind of unevenly. The game failed to hit its Kickstarter goal, but the developers aren't abandoning it just yet."

Greg Micek writes: "Every week we take a brief look at all of the Kickstarter campaigns that launched in the previous week. This isn't to say that all of these projects are worth your hard earned cash, but with any luck having all of them in one place will make it easier to educate yourself on the projects you'd like to back, and which ones to run from. This week there were 31 to choose from."

Successful Kickstarter Videogame Campaigns and Analysis for April 2015

Added: 11.05.2015 3:17 | 3 views | 0 comments

Marcus Estrada writes: "March was an absolutely wonderful month for Kickstarter projects. Over the span of 30 days there were 35 video gaming campaigns that succeeded! Some were lucky enough to raise funds hand over fist, while others barely made it. No matter what, each met their funding goal and that is always great to hear. So how did April follow up? In all, 17 campaigns found success. Its a bit of a let down, even though the campaigns which did succeed are pretty darn lovely. This drop off feels significant, though. After all, its a little less than half the amount of campaigns! What changed this month? One aspect that stood out was a lack of many super funded campaigns. But, were not at the analysis portion yet! First, here are the highlighted campaigns for April."

Chaos Reborn (Hands-On) (PC) Preview | Cubed3

Added: 10.05.2015 10:17 | 12 views | 0 comments

Cubed: As everyone these days is aware, Kickstarter is ever emerging as the new platform for old ideas. Chaos Reborn is no exception. For Julian Gollop, who was behind the 1985 ZX Spectrum Chaos: The Battle of Wizards, Kickstarter was the means to revive his old ideas for the 21st Century. As many titles have demonstrated in the past, there is definitely still a modern audience craving more niche titles, such as the ones Julian is renowned for, having, incidentally also been behind the original X-COM that has so recently had such a successful revamp. In March 2014, Chaos Reborn went up on Kickstarter with a goal of $180,000, which is easily met a month later, finishing with over $210,000. Now on Steam Early access, Cubed3 goes hands on with the title.

Chucky Hits Kickstarter. Child's Play Game Another Case of Copyright Infringement

Added: 10.05.2015 1:17 | 42 views | 0 comments

Amanda French writes: "This dubious Kickstarter campaign for the Child's Play franchise was launched recently by one Donna Howland. In their bio they write that they are a game developer who is inspired by "games PewDiePie, Jacksepticeye, etc play" and whose experience comprises "mostly [...] MMO or Maze games like the games I have created before like Pirate Diamond or the alpha version of it Diamond Pirate." The campaign page is short, with the core of its sales pitch outlined by a run-on sentence that basically states how the would-be game developer was inspired to make a game for this classic slasher horror franchise after watching the movies. They make certain to assure backers that they would make a demo as quickly as they can, which is why they are only asking for £125. So far they have £1 pledged, likely by someone as a gag."
