During Sonys press conference at E3 2015, legendary Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki announced the kickstarter campaign for Shenmue III, which is sitting on $3,551,116 at the moment of this writing, with 25 days to go. Unfortunately, among all the joy, that also created some controversy, and that's really rather sad.

The Deep End Games have today released the final gameplay trailer for Perception, a game that puts players in the shoes of a young blind woman, who must use her extraordinary hearing and sharp cunning to solve mysteries and escape a deadly presence, all without sight. Shenmue's 3 console exclusivity on PS4 looks ever more uncertain today after Ys Net updated its Kickstarter FAQ. The answer to the question about additional platform versions now reads: "Currently we are planning development only for PC (Windows) and PS4. Other platforms have not been decided yet. If other platform versions were added as rewards, an announcement would be made on the update page." This suggests that an Xbox One version could be added as a stretch goal reward.

GamesRadar says, "There's little doubt that Sony is helping to pay for Shenmue 3. If a decent chunk of the company's own money wasn't on the line, why would it desire that fan commitment? WC Sonys E3 conference this year could best be described using the term wish fulfilment. Fans of the classic Shenmue series were delighted to find out that the third game would finally enter development pending the results of a Kickstarter campaign and the company even brought The Last Guardian out of development hell. However, the biggest announcement made during the conference was the revelation that Final Fantasy VIIs long-awaited remake that so many fans have been aching to play for more than a decade was finally going to become reality.
