Kojima Responds To Konami By Placing More Than 60 Credit Screens In MGSV: The Phantom Pain

The breakup between Konami and famed Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima is one that was not only controversial, but unfortunate. With it, the Kojima era of Metal Gear has come to a close. Given the occasion, one would think that Konami would go out of its way to promote the wizardry that Kojima and the staff at Kojima Productions conjured to make one of the highest rated games of all-time. Negative. Instead, it made a strong effort to remove any labeling referencing either party, from the game box to marketing material.

USGamer:
Hideo Kojima has never been what you would call a conservative designer. From the very start, he strained against the limitations of the medium, often with brilliant results. But with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Kojima has taken a different approach. For what will almost certainly be Kojima's final turn with the series, he has thrown the proverbial kitchen sink into The Phantom Pain, producing what is easily the most expansive game in the series.

Kojima has always been clever. His response to the ordeal couldn't possibly be any better.
Comprised of multiple chapters each with several episodes, MGSV: The Phantom Pain is formatted like an episodic tale. Think of it as being a multi-episode television show, with the action sandwiched between an introduction and conclusion, each filled with credits to introduce viewers to who was behind the production."

Hardcore Gamer: "Nearly thirty years ago, a man by the name of Hideo Kojima had a vision of a grand stealth game. Over the multiple decades he and his own studio (Kojima Productions) continued to iterate on the idea, bringing along his remarkable attention to detail, even for the smallest aspects that many players may have failed to realize. With the unfortunate events occurring at Konami which lead to his departure, his final project under his studio is more of a swan song to everything he has accomplished, and what a way to go out."

| The Phantom Pain's Quiet is ruffling feathers: Is her 'sexualised' appearance warranted?

MMGN writes: There is a reason as to why she shows so much skin -- Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima said as much -- although that reasoning is now the cause of debate: discussion has now shifted away from why she's dressed the way she is, to whether or not the reasoning is, well, mature enough to justify the apparent sexualisation.

In typical Kojima fashion, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain sports a number of hidden Easter eggs for fans of the franchise to discover. Just the other day, a special cutscene involving a key character from Ground Zeroes surfaced, totally flipping the script on everything players thought they knew about the events of the prologue.

GE writes: "Metal Gear Solid started in 1987, but for me (and a lot of people) it was 1998. Us Europeans didnt have the honour of Hideo Kojimas world until it arrived on the PS1. I personally didnt know of Kojima nor the Metal Gear series until it was released. Back then my source of information was magazines, so when the scores came in (cant remember exact score but it was enough to grab my attention), I immediately went out to buy it."
