Review: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (DarkZero)

Added: 13.09.2015 13:17 | 17 views | 0 comments

Samuel Howitt: "When a game goes open-world youd expect a certain level of compromise. You dont expect a game structured like that to have the same level of detail that you would expect from Metal Gear Solids linear entries. Yet somehow Kojima Productions have expanded their standard meticulousness to a remarkably huge open world. With that they have also created the most easily playable entry in the entire series. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is something special that doesnt come too often, a game so brilliant you just wish that other games would start learning from it."

Opinion: The Konami Conundrum

Added: 13.09.2015 8:21 | 47 views | 0 comments

NZGamer: nami have had an interesting year thus far. Alongside announcing plans to focus on free-to-play mobile games, Hideo Kojima is reportedly leaving the company, they cancelled Silent Hills, and are allegedly utilising surveillance to keep an eye on employees. Despite undergoing a period of upheaval, their most recent financial report for the quarter ending June 2015 show increased revenue and profits attributed to investment in mobile gaming. But what does the future hold for a company seemingly hell-bent on turning their backs on the gaming experiences and fans which put them into the financial position they currently enjoy?

Review Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - The Outerhaven

Added: 13.09.2015 3:17 | 40 views | 0 comments

Gary Marston writes: "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain isnt just another entry to Hideo Kojimas world-class canon; its an ambitious statement of a video game. A game which begins with David Bowies The Man Who Sold the World clearly exudes a certain amount of confidence and as the songs powerful lyrics begin to raise early themes of existentialism and humanity, players will get their long-awaited first glimpse of Kiefer Sutherlands Snake in action (upon second reading, I realise that sounds a bit like a euphemism). The song isnt just bog-standard contextualising filler either; it is one of many cleverly constructed layers that develop throughout the course of the 50-hour campaign. The genius of Hideo Kojima strikes in emphatic style, making Metal Gear Solid V the standout title of the year."

The lost Kojima games we'll never play

GR: "I watched Silent Hills along with everyone else as it burst - Hindenburg-esque - into flames and crash-landed all over the internet. And despite my best attempts to plug that pyramid-shaped hole in my heart, it festers to this day. But what I didn't appreciate until recently is that the tragedy of Silent Hills and Kojima's unceremonious departure from Konami doesn't end there. It gets even worse."

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Review - JPS

Added: 12.09.2015 5:19 | 8 views | 0 comments

"One of the most anticipated games to arrive this year is Kojimas Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. After years of waiting, the much awaited title is finally here and being the last game that Kojima will develop for the Metal Gear series, all efforts had been put into it. Taking the gameplay elements from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and providing open-world areas for Big Boss to do his legendary work, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is the last game from Kojima that fans will not forget." - JPS

(WGB) Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Review Theres A Unicorn On Fire, What More Do You Want

Baden of WGB: "The dismissal of Hideo Kojima has brought with it cries that while Metal Gear Solid may live on through Konami, it will never truly be the beloved franchise again, which in some ways is almost disrespectful to the many, many people who actually make the game behind the scenes and will likely continue on with the series. Kojima may provide much of the vision, but undoubtedly he also just said yes or no to many ideas brought to him. and trusted his team. Still, without the man himself it is quite likely that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be the last true Metal Gear Solid game, especially with Konami involved, a company which, and lets be honest here, has proven itself to be somewhatwell, stupid. So, if this is really the final proper Metal Gear game does it do justice to the insane series? Has Kojima gone out with a bang?"
