Digibytes: God of War: Ascension Review

Aaron Ploof from Digibytes reviews God of War: Ascension:
"I dont know why this story needed to be told ; it seems as if the writers wanted to lend Kratos some more humanity, but they majorly skimmed on that chance. The storyline doesnt tell us anything we didnt already know about Kratos, and it gives us no hints as to where the series mythology may be heading. The only reason I can think of for its existence is to satiate the thirst of God of War fanatics for the fourth official installment."
It may seem as if I hate the game, but thats not true. Its not entirely pointless, just forgettable in every sense of the word. There are some truly epic moments in the final boss battle, but they come nowhere near the scale that was set in the past six games. God of War: Ascension is nowhere near the game it could have been."

After much hype, rumor and speculation God of War movie has been officially confirmed. Universal Studios has handed over the task of writing a brand new script for God of War movie to none other than SAW series scribes Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The duo has written Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, and Saw 3D.
Well that is all we know right now about the movie. No details yet as to who will play the role of our beloved KRATOS in the movie. No doubt Kratos should be played by a right sort of actor in order to live up to the expectation of huge fan base.
So here is our list of SIX STARS that we would love to see as KRATOS in God of War movie:

9.3Overall Score
God of War: Ascension is a prequel to the initial God of War series, the most anticipated properties on Sony systems and one of the most acclaimed video game franchises of all time. You play as Kratos, a Spartan soldier in ancient Greece bent on destroying each and every Greek god that gets in his way.
Six months have elapsed since he stood before the bodies of his wife and child, forced to murder them, avenge them, Kratos shattered the blood oath that bound him to Ares. Having broken a blood oath with the gods, Kratos becomes the target of the three demonic sisters known as The Furies.

TGN - "Breaking your promise is never good but breaking your promise to a god is just suicide. Well, it would be if youre anyone apart from Kratos. In God of War: Ascension we join our tattooed Spartan chained up for breaking his blood oath to Aries. One of the furies is torturing us but of course since we are Kratos we manage to get her to break our chain and then proceed with a few quick time events to break free completely."

Kratos is back and this time we get to see what he was like before rage consumed him. Can this origin story be as good as his previous outings or does it just go that one step too far.

"When you have a series like God of War, one that built its name on massive scale, fluid pacing and an extremely refined combat system, its tough to figure out where exactly it can go from there, especially since it has already become a fully formed trilogy with all loose ends seemingly tied up. What exactly could another game in the franchise add or expand upon when it comes to the already solid framework?
Well, how about the pale-skinned brutish antihero himself, Kratos? Thats what Santa Monica had in mind when crafting God of War: Ascension, a prequel that aims to explore the character of Kratos and delve into his psychology and motivations during the most important and tragic time of his origin. Did they pull it off and make a game that truly ascends, or are you better off stripping down to your boxers, painting yourself red and white, and running around town screaming to get your GoW fix? Were about to find out." (Michael Urban, OnlySP.com)

Impulse Gamer: "God of War Ascension contains all the bigger than Ben Hur gameplay from the series and is another enjoyable Kratos experience. However as this game happens before many key elements of Kratos story, it does feel a little smaller in terms of scope. This is not to say that God of War Ascension is a bad game but it does feel a little limited opposed to Kratos with all his godlike powers."
