Dealspwn: Films based on video games. For so long a great idea that's produced relentlessly poor results. For every Silent Hill or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children there's an overwhelming deluge of ruined licenses like The Legend of Chun-Li, Dead or Alive, Prince of Persia or that steaming s**t pile that is Uwe Boll's embarrassment of a CV. There will undeniably be more, but there are some promising titles on the horizon. We've been through the lists and selected five of the confirmed titles that best represent an opportunity for a change in the quality of movies based on video game franchises. Four of them are deep into production and one of them really should be by now. So, in order of scheduled release.

Carl Williams writes, "Scrolling shooters are a staple of videogames. Dont believe me, just go look at the catalog of games from the first days of videogames. Asteroids was a shooter, so was Raid on Bungling Bay. Defender- yep. On the NES there were countless titles such as Gradius, Guardian Legend and more. Scrolling shooters in general are retrogaming and are going to be around in the future, that is for sure as indie and homebrew developers are picking up the slack left by the professionals. One console that was left in Japan and certainly not on the radar for most gamers in North America is the NEC PC-FX. Anyone remember this one? Anyone?"

| SuperPhillip Central: Legend of Kay Anniversary (Wii U, PS4, PS3, 360) Review
Added: 12.08.2015 14:21 | 2 views | 0 comments
SPC writes, "Legend of Kay originally released on the PlayStation 2, published by Capcom. It later saw a re-release on the Nintendo DS. Of course, this writer had to look up those bits of information because when Legend of Kay Anniversary was announced for the Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, I had no clue what game it was an actual remaster of. Thus, you can imagine that entering into the game, I had limited expectations of the game. All I knew was that it was of an era when 3D platformers were quite common, a golden age of gaming for me, the PS2 generation of gaming hardware. This made diving into Legend of Kay Anniversary an exciting proposition. Was my excitement rewarded?"
