Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition on PlayStation 4 surpasses the originals PC visuals in a number of areas: with higher resolution textures across the board, the introduction of new state of the art post-process effects such as bokeh depth of field and HDR bloom, and an all-new volumetric cloud system that adds even more spectacular skies and sunsets to the dynamic day-night cycles.

Tin Salamunic: With titles like The Witcher 3, Bloodborne and the Elder Scrolls series dominating the RPG genre, its becoming harder for mid-sized developers to gain any traction. Not every game can be neatly categorized as either a multi-million dollar AAA or an off-the-wall indie production. Most titles fall somewhere on the spectrum between these two extremes. Styx: Master of Shadows and Bound by Flame are perfect examples of recent games that received little acclaim despite offering solid experiences. The same can be said for most titles created by Piranha Bytes.

ThisGenGaming says "Normally with a review I talk about the game first along with giving brief details on what the game means to me. This time however, Im just going to cut right to it This game is terrible. Boring and uninspired combat, horrible animations, and technical issues plague Risen 3 from being any kind of passable video game. Risen 3 on the PS4 is that bad, it is an early contender for the worst game of 2015 so far."

PSLS writes: When Risen 3: Titan Lords first released onto PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PC last year, it wasnt reviewed all that highly. The RPG had a clunky combat system, frame-rate issues, and poor graphics, making it not quite worth your money. However, while Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition on PS4 still deals with many of the same issues, it actually manages to look gorgeous on the current-gen system.

Justin Celani writes: Risen 3 released last year on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The PC version was obviously the default choice for platform preference, but the console versions unfortunately had extremely bad technical issues. Now we have the PS4 enhanced edition that includes all the DLC and improved textures and effects. The question remains, is this version the best console edition?

A full written review of Risen 3: Titan Lords for PlayStation 4 in the new Enhanced Edition that doesn't enhance much.
MGL:
Risen 3 Titan Lords on PlayStation 3 was a game to forget but the developers decided to give the game a makeover for the PlayStation 4. While there are improvements in the graphics these simply are not enough to make the game much better.
It's more playable than it was previously on console but with a poor frame-rate, pop-in and the same frustrating combat system that plagued the original still not fixed it's a struggle to get through. If you stick with it there are some nice environments and a fun story but it's just really difficult to keep going with the poor execution of so many key parts of the game.

Rich at GameSpew writes: "So, as an avid PlayStation 4 owning adventurer youve completed The Witcher 3, seen all it has to offer, and still have a craving for more gritty open world action. What title do you turn to next? Theres not much choice really aside from the disappointingly dull Elder Scrolls Online and the decidedly average Arcania: Gothic 4. But never fear, Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition is here to fill the void, or at least, try to. While this absorbing journey into distant lands is largely enjoyable, it has numerous issues that hold it back from being on the same level as CD Projekt Reds magnum opus."

DTOID:
The best noir films end on a downer. Whatever great conspiracy the hero came so close to unraveling has come out on top -- the bigwigs in charge have evaded justice and a lot of good people died along the way. But the protagonist got something out of the whole experience, be it the petty crook that sparked the whole investigation or the ability to just walk away.
