Sega posts 54 percent increase in profits for the year, with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed the publisher's best-selling title.

Speaking during its annual financial report, Sega revealed that the disappointing FPS was slightly outsold by cheery kart racer , which managed to ship 1.36 million copies though has enjoyed a slightly longer shelf life.

Elsewhere in the financial report, Sega said it made an 54 percent year-on-year increase in profits with ¥33.4 billion ($329/£214 million). Looking to 2014, Sega is hoping to make ¥47 billion.

SEGA shipped more units of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

The big budget licensed game was out-shipped by SEGA's Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which managed 1.36 million units, but did launch on three more platforms than Aliens.

Elsewhere, Football Manager 2013 shipped 940,000 units, whilst London 2012 performed modestly with 640,000 units.

There's encouraging signs for Wii U owners, with SEGA revealing it plans to ship seven titles for Wii U in the year ending March 31, 2014.

Staff sent home after company files for bankruptcy.
The troubles of TimeGate Studios continue this week, as Kotaku sources suggest that the company has laid off its entire staff. The news comes hot on the heels of reports that TimeGate filed a petition for chapter 11 bankruptcy last week.

Had hoped to avoid liquidation by filing for bankruptcy.

According to the sources the studio sent all its staff home early yesterday, and it's believed TimeGate's aim to file bankruptcy was thwarted by publisher SouthPeak Interactive. The publisher questioned the legitimacy of TimeGate's filing and was pushing for bankruptcy to be converted to a Chapter 7 liquidation.

A source told Kotaku that SouthPeak won in arbitration, forcing TimeGate to shut its doors.

TimeGate is yet to offer an official comment.
