Suing Sega? Then Sue Irrational Too

Serves SEGA right, doesnt it. Made a right crappy game out of Colonial Marines they did, so someone is suing them. Oh, well, they didnt make it per say, but Im sure they are to blame somehow. Dont worry, developer Gearbox are getting sued to. Yeah, in your face, Pitchford! Ken Levine though? Hes a God. He and Irrational craft critically lauded works of fantasy. BioShock: Infinite was a masterpiece. Theyd never do a SEGA on us and whet our lips with a false gameplay demo that way overemphasises aspects of their game, let alone showcase amazing features that never actually appeared in the final release.

The Aliens Colonial Marines Lawsuit Is Wrong

Added: 02.05.2013 4:21 | 20 views | 0 comments

Aliens: Colonial Marines will likely be remembered as one of the biggest disappointments of this generation of gaming. Sega and developer Gearbox have rightly been vilified for the game's poor quality and their failure to deliver on the promises they made to fans. However, the class action lawsuit that has been filed against the companies is misguided and deserves to fail. Yesterday, the website Polygon reported that a California class action lawsuit had been filed against Sega and Gearbox Software. It alleges that the companies engaged in false advertising and that demos that were shown of the game at various events were not representative of the finished product (you can read more details on the suit here).

The critically-mauled game has been accused of false advertising in a Californian court.

The disappointing is now the subject of a class action lawsuit, with both Gearbox Software and Sega accused of misrepresenting the game to consumers with false advertising.

The lawsuit, filed yesterday in a Californian court and , alleges that the final game "bore little resemblance" to the early footage of the game shown in demos and gameplay trailers.

"Each of the 'actual gameplay' demonstrations purported to show consumers exactly what they would be buying: a cutting edge video game with very specific features and qualities," reads the claim filed by law firm Edelson LLC on behalf of plaintiff Damion Perrine.

"Unfortunately for their fans, Defendants never told anyone--consumers, industry critics, reviewers, or reporters--that their 'actual gameplay' demonstration advertising campaign bore little resemblance to the retail product that would eventually be sold to a large community of unwitting purchasers."

Another complaint to the has previously forced Sega to add disclaimers to the game's trailers stating that the footage shown in commercials was not indicative of the final product.

Other sources Gearbox neglected development on Aliens: Colonial Marines in favour of Borderlands 2, the company's own IP.

Gearbox President Randy Pitchford has acknowledged the criticisms. Responding , he called the complaints "fair" and said the studio was "looking at that."

"Lots of info to parse, lots of stake holders to respect," he added.
