Michael Crisman writes, "Everything was bigger in the 80s. Cars were built like tanks, not like airplanes. Houses were built like mansions, not like shacks. And prime time soap operas were built like Dallas. If you drew breath in the United States during the shows thirteen-year run, you knew J.R. Ewing. Never watched the show? Didnt matter, the question Who shot J.R.? was on everyones lips in the summer of 1980. Thanks to CBSs shrewd marketing tactics, more people tuned in to find out the killers identity than turned out to vote in the 1980 presidential electionturns out people were just as politically ignorant thirty-four years ago as they are today. But what about the people who looked at the TV show and said, We need to make a game outta that!? Im already starting with a headache."

| Shadow of Mordor design director on the Nemesis System: Baby steps to a larger goal
Added: 21.12.2014 0:15 | 20 views | 0 comments
Bioshock creator Ken Levine recently wrote a piece on how Monolith Productions Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor inspired various ideas he wishes to incorporate into his unannounced video game project.
Interestingly enough, Shadow of Mordors design director, Michael de Plater recently discussed how Levines Bioshock series inspired Shadow of Mordor - stating that Monolith favored Bioshocks method of environmental storytelling, but wanted to devise a way in which the narrative didnt just look or feel real, but was real leading to Shadow of Mordors lauded Nemesis System.
However, as well-received as it was, de Plater calls what they have accomplished "baby steps" towards a much larger goal.
