Eight of the world's best StarCraft II players to compete for $50,000 at historic Hammerstein Ballroom in November.

Red Bull has announced that eight of the world's best players will compete for $50,000 at New York City's historic Hammerstein Ballroom on November 23-24.

Dubbed the Red Bull Battlegrounds, four players have already been confirmed through their performances at past Red Bull eSports events. The champions from the inaugural Red Bull Battlegrounds tournament in 2012--Jang Min "MC" Chul and WCS Season 2 champion Ji Sung "Bomber" Choi--will be joined by winners of this year's Red Bull Training Grounds events in Santa Monica and Orlando, Myeong Hwan "Golden" Jo and Jens "Snute" Aasgaar, respectively.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to compete in the Red Bull Battlegrounds", said Aasgaar. "So far the lineup is very stacked and it's going to be a good challenge for sure."

StarCraft caster and ringmaster Sean "Day9" Plott will be the host of the event, for both a live audience at the venue and the live stream for those watching at home. The two-day event will be broadcast on TwitchTV.

Sony says 33 titles will be available for PlayStation 4 by the end of December, including Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4.
