OPM: One thing in particular here will make you exceedingly glad: you dont have to pay for continues. By packaging together Shadow Over Mystara and Tower Of Doom, Capcom has updated two classic arcade side-scrollers into one lovingly conjoined Amusement Golem, but the difficulty remains troll-skin hard.

N10GG:
"Video gamers like me who are in their (very) early 30's might recall playing coin-op games such as Dungeons Dragons: Tower of Doom or Dungeons Dragons: Shadow over Mystara at their local pizza joint or mall arcade. Lord knows I've spent a fair amount of time (and a bunch of my parents' quarters) at Pistol Pete's Pizza in Las Vegas doing just that."

The Illusive Man says:"Here I was playing Dungeons Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara when all of a sudden here comes a new challenger! Perfect timing! As I was just wondering what the game would look like with an HD makeover, -depth gameplay, and ridiculously endowed female character classes. Whos the challenger that wants to be champion of the fantasy side-scrolling beat em up world, you ask? Dragons Crown, the newest game from publisher Atlus and developer Vanillaware. A visually stunning new entry into the genre that aims to be nostalgic while improving on traditional gameplay."

| CGM Reviews: Dragon's Crown

Dragons Crown is, to CGM, a surreal beast. This is pretty much what Dungeons Dragons: Shadow of Mystara looked and played like back in the day. The problem is, CGM recently played the HD port for review and found out just how severely distorted CGM's nostalgia goggles were. Now theres Dragons Crown by 2D studio extraordinaire, Vanillaware, and this is pretty much THE side-scrolling, gorgeously illustrated, 2D, 4 player co-op, action RPG, dungeon crawling experience for a new generation of players that Mystarawith our much, MUCH lower, more naïve standardsenjoyed in arcades back in the day. With caveats.
