Review: Tecmo Bowl (Wii U eShop / NES) | Nintendo Life

Added: 21.09.2015 12:17 | 140 views | 0 comments

NL: Move over Madden 16, Tecmo Bowl is back and stealing the NFL spotlight 1989 wasn't just an amazing year because that's when this writer was born. It's an also amazing year because that's when Tecmo Bowl received its home console release on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Boasting an impressive roster from the 1988 NFL season, players could now run the field as star players such as Bo Jackson or play defensively with the likes of Lawrence Taylor. The most impressive aspect of Tecmo Bowl was how it was able to overcome the technical limitations of the then-aging NES. 9 players on each side of the field, choosing from 4 different styles of plays (2 runs and 2 plays), utilizing a hidden stat feature from each team based on their players and playbook in real life - this football game really pushed the limits.

Factor 5's Lost Wii Kid Icarus Boasted A Dark Hero With 60fps Airborne Action

Added: 21.09.2015 11:17 | 144 views | 0 comments

NL: Fans of Kid Icarus had to endure a long and painful wait between the original NES and Game Boy titles and the eventual 3DS update, but had Star Wars: Rogue Squadron studio Factor 5 had its way, we would have been playing a sequel a little bit sooner. Unseen 64 staffer and occasional Nintendo Life contributor Liam Robertson has published an in-depth video which looks at the history of Factor 5's unreleased Kid Icarus pitch. The studio became involved with the project off the back of its work on the aforementioned Nintendo exclusive Rogue Squadron franchise, and early concept art reveals a much darker and more mature tone than previous titles in the series.

Hands On: Digging Deeper With Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows | Nintendo Life

Added: 21.09.2015 11:17 | 112 views | 0 comments

NL: Overall, Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, provides an experience that's easily equal to, if not better than, the original game that it remixes. The perfect marriage of old and new provides a distinct experience that manages to stand well enough as its own entity; this is more than just a reskin with a new character. Smart level design, tight controls and a lengthy campaign filled with secrets and collectibles all combine to form an excellent and surprisingly meaty addition to what was an already awesome game.
