PAX East 2014: Indie devs give Pixelitis their best elevator pitches

Added: 22.04.2014 3:14 | 11 views | 0 comments

"Indie developers had three days at last week's PAX East 2014 to show off their games to the myriad of people swarming the show floor, but what if they only had 30 seconds to sell people on it? That's precisely what Karen, Andrew and I set out to do when scoping out the Indie Megabooth for new games to check out. In our latest video, we put indie developers to the test in providing elevator pitches for their upcoming games in 30 seconds or less. Supergiant Games, Klei Entertainment, 17-BIT, Vlambeer, Brace Yourself Games, Discord Games, Yacht Club Games, Iridium Studios and Loveshack took our challenge and we've pieced together the outcome. The results are a ridiculous combination of impressive and utterly amusing speed-talking. We suggest that you give it a watch after the break. If you enjoyed the video, be sure to give us a rating, comment and a subscription on the YouTube page." - Patrick Kulikowski

Child of Light Preview - PAX East 2014 | NGN

Added: 19.04.2014 16:14 | 12 views | 0 comments

New Game Network: "Last August, Ubisoft and director Patrick Plourde unveiled the surprising fantasy-JRPG, Child of Light. With the games unique watercolor aesthetic - created using UbiArt Framework - smaller team, and digital release, Child of Light felt like something you would expect from independent developers, not the publisher behind Far Cry, Assassins Creed, and the wealth of games bearing the Tom Clancy name. While Child of Light might be a surprise out of Ubisoft, it is worth marking its release in a couple weeks as the time I spent with the game was truly magical."

DuckTales Remastered soundtrack gets a digital release

Added: 18.04.2014 12:18 | 10 views | 0 comments

"Its been a long wait for any news on an official soundtrack release for last years Capcom, Disney and WayForward-produced retro revival of DuckTales Remastered, but its finally got a release date. The digital soundtrack, slated for release on the North American Amazon MP3 Store, is comprised of 47 tracks, spanning 90 minutes. It includes all of the remixed music by Jake virt Kaufman (Double Dragon Neon, Retro City Rampage) in addition to Hiroshige Tonomuras original 8-bit tunes. Those of us who thought that an official release of the games soundtrack would never see the light of day thanks to publishing complications with all the companies involved may be pleasantly surprised. Speaking on Twitter, Kaufman described everyone at Disney as super chill + friendly, with the length of time between the release of the game and the soundtrack being attributed to a ton of details that needed to be worked out, albeit with 'zero drama.'" - Patrick Kulikowski

PAX East '14 - Sewing up three days of cosplay

Added: 16.04.2014 18:14 | 14 views | 0 comments

"Only at cons do you get a trio of Tingles. Only at cons. PAX East cosplay was in full swing this past weekend and Pixelitis has got the evidence right here. Staffers saw favorites like The Prince from Katamari Damacy as well as Marth from Fire Emblem. We snapped pictures of some Hotline Miami cosplayers, Resident Evils Barry Burton and Bioshock Infinites Luteces in their sharpest and wittiest. Associate Editor Patrick Kulikowski also noted various Ravios from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds out on the show floor. All we needed was a Hey Mr. Hero! to top things off. Our hats go off to the one lone Limbo cosplay. It was both creepy and amazing. Although it felt as if the con had a bit less cosplay than usual, that didnt mean the costumes were any less awesome. Check out the full gallery from this weekend after the jump." - Pixelitis Staff

Why DICE is wrong to worry about Battlefield: Bad Company 3

Added: 16.04.2014 14:15 | 7 views | 0 comments

Ed sticks up for videogame comedy.
Nothing travels faster on the internet than a good joke, particularly if it takes the form of a cat doing something undignified. The same isn't true of jokes in shooter videogames, or so DICE's executive producer Patrick Bach would have us believe. Shooters, after all, are serious business. Everybody knows that. They need to be grim and unsmiling and heroic, capable of a grand total of two witticisms per coast-to-coast aerial bombardment. Or do they?
