DriveClub - Player One Review
Added: 27.01.2015 2:10 | 5 views | 0 comments
After many delays, Sony finally launched DriveClub, the game that was supposed to show the power of the PlayStation 4 in the fall of last year. What it managed to prove though, were the problems of triple-A games development, being alongside Assassin's Creed Unity and Halo The Master Chief Collection a worthy example of what not to do. Although the game did manage to do good on some of the promises, there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Kotaku:
"I'd had a nice enough time tracking down supernatural beasties (and regular, non-supernatural arsonists) and snarling my way through conversations, but I didn't feel wowed. I got to take control of Geralt from the massive fantasy RPG's get-go, learn the ropes, and do a handful of quests. Certainly, the whole thing was very pretty and dashing and it was implied that two characters did a sex right before the video game part showed up, but it was hard not to feel a creeping sense of "been there, done that." Grabbing quests, hearing randos sputter out their sob stories, calling my omnipresent horse from the ether cloud horse realm in which it assuredly residedit was a familiar rhythm born of other open-world-ish RPGs like Skyrim and Dragon Age. Each step felt like second nature, for better or worse."

The development of blockbuster triple-A games is fraught with financial risk. With most new projects, the EAs, Ubisofts, and Activisions of the world must tightly balance fresh and original ideas with what has proven to be financially successful in the past. It's why . But doing all of this while exploring a procedurally-generated galaxy, full of procedurally-generated worlds which you can seamlessly land your spacecraft on and encounter procedurally-generated wildlife, is unlike any game we've seen before. What also differentiates No Man's Sky is the sense of solitude; despite being a multiplayer game and a connected universe, you're unlikely to encounter many other players in your quest to reach the center of the galaxy.
