The beta offers successful applicants the chance to try out the latest Xbox 360 update ahead of its official release, which boosts "overall performance" and switches the Marketplace currency from Microsoft Points to real-world cash.
Xbox 360 users can apply to be a part of the beta through the 'Xbox Beta Program' tile on the dashboard. Microsoft warns that space is limited, however, and the beta will be closed to the public once the spots are filled.

You won't need to manually enter 25-digit codes to redeem purchases.
Whitten's confirmation came after a Reddit user posted the image below, asking the firm to do away with the laborious task of entering 25 digit codes.
"To my reddit friends -- yup -- this works!" Whitten wrote.
Codes are typically used for Xbox Live subscriptions, DLC, Arcade games and MS Points (soon to be replaced with local currency).
Xbox One will launch in November at £429.99.
