TouchArcade: A couple days ago we posted about Nintendo bringing their first "Candy Crush style" free to play game to the 3DS eShop. If you're new to all this, here's the gist- Nintendo has been cautiously ever-so-slightly dipping their pinky toe into the free to play pool on their platforms, and Pokemon Shuffle is the first game where they just say screw it and yell "CANNONBALL!" before jumping in. I've spent the last few days playing it, and it's a very weird fit for the 3DS but a perfect fit for mobile.

To dispel the notion that Nintendo is entering entirely uncharted territory, it has already done free-to-play -- to great success, actually. Rusty's Real Deal Baseball was one of my favorite games of 2014, and implemented the scheme in an incredibly unique and very Nintendo way. Although I'm not a big fan of Steeldiver: Sub Wars' gameplay, the model is fantastic. What the company has done with Pokémon Shuffle is a complete 180 from its past triumphs, and frankly disappointing given that it's a child-oriented IP. I don't know if Nintendo, its board members, Genius Sonority, or The Pokemon Company is to blame, but either way you slice it it's not good.

With over 120+ champions to choose from, therell be a few stinkers in the midst. Riot Games have yet to reach Pokemon status of character design with animate objects and actual piles of garbage, though a few champions usefulness provides the same bewildered effect. Now, League of Legends allows the unused and rejected to your (and your enemys) advantage. The new game mode of the Nemesis Draft dictates just who you want to square off against in League of Legends. Champions you would gleefully dump on the enemy, and cackle at their attempts to use them. Difficult to play with, useless after a patch, or just plain stupid, these are the champions you pick last at recess.
