PlayStation Euphoria - Poker Night At The Inventory 2 Review

Added: 09.05.2013 23:20 | 9 views | 0 comments

TellTale Games Poker Night At The Inventory 2 has many flaws with its PlayStation 3 version, thanks to major technical issues and repeating lines of dialogue but every once in a while, this game is incredibly addictive and wonderful to play when you want something other than an action packed shooter or fighter.

Poker Night 2 Review (Invision Game Community)

Poker Night 2 is the second release in the Inventory Series brought to us by Telltale Games, who have a habit of bringing to us a host of fan favourite characters and making them play poker with us. What could be better? Tell Tale have a strong history of excellent games in their library Tales of Monkey Island, the Sam Max series, Back to the Future: The Game, and of course they currently have the gaming world in tears with their The Walking Dead series of games.

DHGF: It feels odd to recommend a game not for great game design but to hang out with fictional characters, but thats just what Im doing. Each character is brought to life in a variety of ways. The voice acting is great, and the original voice actors reprise most of their roles. It is noticeable, though, that Ash is not voiced by Bruce Campbell, but I have to give the actor credit, he sounds close, and after a bit, you dont even notice it. Each character has stories to tell, reacts accordingly to how the game plays out, and has their own specific visual tells. Each character also has a play style that fits; Ash bluffs big and takes risks, while Max plays it safe and cool. In fact, this social aspect is what elevates it from other poker games that might be better mechanically. Hanging out, telling stories and trying to figure out someones playing style by their reactions is a huge part of poker, and the reason why people get together to play.

Poker Night at the Inventory 2 Review - PSLS

As someone who hasnt really ventured into The Venture Bros, watched the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness movies, delved too deep into either Borderlands, or played the Sam Max games, youd think Poker Night 2 wouldnt appeal to me in the slightest. Thankfully, the writing is done so well (as youd expect from Telltale Games) that even people unfamiliar with these characters will get many laughs from Poker Night 2. Too bad other aspects arent nearly as good as the writing. - PSLS
