Chroma Squad Review: Programming Power | Technology Tell

Added: 15.05.2015 9:16 | 10 views | 0 comments

Technology Tell writes, "This simplicity extends to gameplay. Everything is uncomplicated. Every unit gets one action per turn. The special attack and weapon buttons are always displayed at the bottom of the screen. Objectives can be varied, but are never unreasonable. There isnt even an end turn button, perhaps because Behold Studios assumes those playing wouldnt be as familiar with strategy game mechanics."

GI: Few things can grab your attention like a modern revival of one of your favorite childhood brands. While Chroma Squad isnt a licensed Power Rangers game, it doesnt shy away from acknowledging the influence; the title screen even includes a nod to Power Rangers. When this nostalgia-laden inspiration meets simplistic tactical gameplay, Behold Studios makes it easy for all sorts of players to jump in and enjoy the action, but is unable to keep that momentum.

A dark 80s aesthetic has come to multiple different video game genres in the past few years. Far Cry: Blood Dragon showed its 80s flair in a first-person shooter and Hotline Miami brought the same to an action game. Thanks to Power drive 2000, currently getting funded on Kickstarter, we see a similar style in a racing game.

Chroma Squad Review | Saving Content

Excerpt: "Ever since the debut of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993, it has been a cultural phenomenon, with the series still in production today. Surprisingly, there hasnt been a Power Rangers game on a platform outside of the Nintendo 3DS in recent years. Behold Games somewhat fills in that gap with Chroma Squad, a tactical RPG with managerial elements that makes for a very entertaining game, if not a bit light on nearly every aspect of playing the game."

Chroma Squad: It takes tactics to put on a good show | SBG Review

Added: 08.05.2015 19:17 | 3 views | 0 comments

SBG: Power Rangers was great. Well, it was great to me when I was a kid. Looking back at it, every episode followed the same general outline: head bad guy orders this weeks adversary around, adversary terrorizes city, rangers fight low-level mooks and adversary at normal size and win, and rangers mash their robots together to fight giant-sized adversary and win. And honestly, at 10, that was enough for me.
