Through the Woods Preview Norse Horror | GodisaGeek

Greg Hill: "Like many horror games of late, your only tools to survive the creatures of the forest are your flashlight and your legs. In the short press demo I was able to play, you take control of the mother as she first ventures in to the forest equipped only with her torch, navigating the towering trees and eerie huts which lie between them with only her sons reflective teddy bears to show her the way. The graphical fidelity of the game, even in its alpha state, is excellent: leaves, branches and roots of the trees all stand out and feel part of the world instead of just a decoration."

On May 28th I was invited to visit Blizzard Entertainment's headquarters in Irvine, California. The invitation was for a Heroes of the Storm press event, one that I was excited to attend given my deep interest in the game. The event wasn't detailed before my arrival, so I only assumed that I would see post-launch content. I was right.

Palmer Sturman: Ive played my fair share of this new wave of immersive survival horror games that have made resurgence over the past few years, and for the most part theyve been similar experiences. Alien: Isolation and Outlast are essentially the same game; the same can be said for Day Z, The Forest, H1Z1 and Rust. These titles all borrow significantly from one another and manage to inspire horror their respective ways, but the genre really feels like its starting to lull, especially considering the fact that a lot of these titles have yet to leave early access. Considering the problems I just listed Im sure you can understand my skepticism when I heard about Antagonists latest horror creation, Through the Woods, but I found that after spending close to a half-hour slowly exploring everything I came across I must admit I let down my guard and allowed the world absorb me.
