It's been a long road back to getting an official King's Quest title, with the franchise moving from developer to developer since the last entry in 1998.

King's Quest and other Sierra adventure titles may be a historical footnote in many ways, but they had a huge effect on culture even outside of the game industry. Heck, the 1988 Tom Hanks comedy Big even has a scene where the character's growth and increased maturity is shown when he finally is able to solve a puzzle in an adventure game clearly inspired by the series.
