Aidan from Awesome Games writes: 'Check out our video review of Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode Two!
The story doesnt go much further beyond introducing new characters and killing some of them off in the same chapter until the final moments of Barrys campaign which pulls out an intriguing plot twist connecting the game to the mainstream series entries. A decent package all in all but were already halfway through the games story now and very little has happened so far chapter three needs to pick up the pace a little bit.

The quality of the first Revelations was an achievement in itself, given how mediocre Resi spinoffs had been until that point (no, Code Veronica doesn't count). Revelations 2 is a more ambitious and original production, comfortable with moving further away from the main series and through this gaining a distinct identity. This is a Resident Evil game, but it also feels like its own game. Quite apart from the plot threads and sacrificial NPCs, that's the biggest revelation of all.

PA:
Now that its over and done, I cant say I rightly understand why Capcom chose to initially release Resident Evil: Revelations 2 as a series of four episodes rather than just one game.
I enjoyed having a little classic-meets-modern (but mostly classic) Resident Evil treat each Tuesday over the last month, but I dont see how it was a boon to storytelling or play. If anything, the experience felt shoehorned into the format, with environments and story designed to fit a certain space rather than to naturally fit the flow of the adventure.

IGN:
Although Resident Evil Revelations 2 doesn't recapture old glory or reach new heights for the series, it contains moments of inspiration where its action-adventure gameplay and mostly compelling mystery plot marry together beautifully. Capcoms horror doesn't frighten, but as an action-adventure its elevated by this occasional synergy, and the excellent bonus Raid mode.

tGI says: "The Resident Evil series has fallen on hard times. What once was a franchise that would go on to help define the horror genre itself in 1996, only to then redefine it once 2005, is now showing a real lack of direction... Enter Resident Evil Revelations 2, a sequel to the 3DS hit that brought things back to its horror focused roots sort of. Is this second nightmare a step in the right direction for the franchise?"
