BiT Evolution Review | NGN

NGN:
What was once old is new again. At least, this seems to be the case in the modern era of gaming. As the industry continues to push the technological boundaries of graphics, horsepower, and scope, many developers and gamers alike are backpedalling a bit, and rediscovering a certain nostalgic charm many classic games of the 70s, 80s, and 90s held. It is a charm that many modern games cannot seem to recapture. This has given rise to a renaissance of modern games that take on a retro graphical and gameplay style.

Last year saw Piranha Bytes and Deep Silvers RPG adventure Risen 3: Titan lords a game that received a lot of mixed reviews. Open-world exploration combined with pirates sounds like it should be a winner so why did it receive so many mixed opinions? With only a year under its belt is this Enhanced Edition simply a cheap port to bring it to the next generation or has it been given a genuine update to improve on last year criticisms.

| Until Dawn Review - G4@Syfygames

Matt Ferguson of G4@Syfygames writes "Until Dawn is one such example of a horror game that has worked exceptionally hard to create a cast and craft a narrative that almost forces you to become invested in the story. While the story leans on the cheesy B-movie archetype a little heavily, Supermassive Games has created a captivating adventure that keeps your adrenaline pumping and your mind guessing throughout the majority of the game."

NGN:
In the world of small, independent PC games, it seems to be a bit of a crapshoot as to which games gain traction and garner mainstream attention. Despite being pretty heavily plugged into the world of digital entertainment, every now and again a title that Ive never heard of releases. Devils Share is one of those games. Despite being developed by a small, unknown developer, boasting an almost painfully cliche concept, and costing under a dollar, it has amassed hundreds of reviews on Steam in its first few days of existence. Unfortunately for this title, not all press is good press, and the game is getting a reputation for being one of the most completely broken, incoherent products released on the worlds most popular PC game distribution platform. For this review, allow me to take you on a narrative journey of my experience playing just the first few minutes of Devils Share.

Those familiar with ZP, the series of hilariously caustic reviews by Ben Croshaw on the Escapist, will immediately recognize the bright yellow background and Yahtzee, the hat-clad protagonist and Bens avatar. Fans will also expect that unique brand of biting British wit that Zero Punctuation is famous for delivering.
