GameRevolution Joins Extra Life, Win This Special GameRevolution Controller!

Added: 15.10.2014 0:00 | 7 views | 0 comments

I am proud to announce and confirm that GameRevolution will be participating in the gaming charity Extra Life and specifically in its all-day main event this year on October 25 and October 26. While we attempt stream games and ourselves for 48 hours straight via Twitch, you can donate money through GameRevoluton's page on Extra Life.

Not only will that money go to children's hospitals but you can win a shiny custom GameRevolution Xbox 360 controller (shown above) if you're the highest bidder across the two days. I've kept this gem, unopened, in my collection for years, but hey, sacrifice for the greater good, right? However, don't fret if you don't win this. For only a five-dollar donation, you'll receive a ticket in our raffle which include such prizes as an Alien: Isolation Nostromo Edition, a true-to-life Darksiders skull mask, a copy of NBA 2K15, a copy of Persona 4 Ultimax, and more to come. (You will need to have a U.S. or Canadian address to win a prize, though.)

We currently have three gaming streams slated to run simultaneously during the Extra Life event. GameRevolution's Twitch channel will be headed by Blake Peterson, Kevin Schaller, Jessica Vazquez, and yours truly (along with some my roommates), while Daniel Bischoff (Twitch) and Anthony LaBella (Twitch) will be manning their own channels in support. As a pick from the plenty, we will be providing streams to all three channels for your perusal. We'll of course update this post as we approach the October 25/26 event.

But we need your help! While we have several games in mind for the stream (Destiny, Borderlands 2, Five Nights at Freddie's, The Evil Within), I'm sure you have some ideas of your own... I suspect lots of horror games to make us squeamish and scream like little girls. Hey, we aim to please. We'll have access to all of the main consoles except for a Wii U which I don't own but Daniel and Anthony LaBella do (so there!).

Pokémon Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire - Preview

Added: 14.10.2014 17:00 | 3 views | 0 comments

Don’t call yourself the Alpha and Omega too soon. That Pokeódex won’t complete itself. so before diehard franchise fans jump to conclusions as to who is the real Pokeómon master, , though the games weren’t recognizable in the least as I hadn’t set thumbs on Ruby and Sapphire previously and my fandom has waned over the years. Pokeómon is one of those game franchises that doesn’t lend itself to anyone with a heavy rotation of new software like myself. In order to get the most out of each new adventure, you need to dedicate time and energy to understanding both combat and capture mechanics on an intimate level and I regret to say that I failed to spend enough time on to achieve the same satisfaction I’ve had with previous entries in the franchise. That doesn’t mean Pokeómon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire won’t provide hours of entertainment for Pokeó-fanatics who’ve already fulfilled their destiny to catch ‘em all in the past. If anything, it may reignite that fervor with familiar stomping grounds. When I sat down and picked up the Nintendo 3DS unit with a copy of Alpha Sapphire inside, it hit me how long I’ve been engaged by this medium and how much of it came from those first few Pokeómon captures in the grass outside of Pallet Town. Of course, it’s not called that in these versions of the game and the confirmation of Hoenn as a realm the series would return to in the not-too-distant future raised more questions from fans than it did answers from Nintendo. Luckily, Game Freak hasn’t fiddled with the formula too much and much of what people loved in Pokeómon X and Y is retained here. Each game has been modernized without betraying the original pace and charm. The touchscreen offers up the menu and playing with the stylus is just as satisfying as playing with buttons and the D-pad. The moving truck ride to your new house and meeting May for the first time offer new cutscenes and the biggest benefit to Ruby and Sapphire is easily in the vibrancy on display and the wealth of new musical tracks. Many of them sounded fully orchestrated, even from the 3DS speakers, and for truly involved Pokeómon masters married to their favorites from this time and space, the presentation alone will be enough to give you chills. I related to the Nintendo representative showing me the game that it’s a failing of mine that I didn’t play more of X and Y and that series favorites like Silver and Gold remain gaping holes in my experience. Should I turn in my trainer card and take off the blue vest and red cap now? I think I’ll wait for these updated releases and see if I can’t take down Team Magma or Team Aqua before calling it quits on my Pokeómon career. Other than the visually appealing graphics and the updates to game audio, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire also offer the option to use any of the game’s official translations (which continues from X and Y and, at least to me, adds to the international nature the franchise has enjoyed thus far) while mega evolutions also enter the fray with the likes of Mega Rayquaza, Mega Gallade, and Mega Sharpedo. Further, eager gamers can download a demo of either title ahead of launch, see which they prefer to buy, and carry progress over into the full game when it arrives on retail and digital shelves November 21st in the US, Japan, and Australia, and November 28th in Europe. If you’re looking for a Blastoise from the past, it seems like Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have been designed from the ground up with that mentality in mind. Every sneaky step I tried to take towards a Pokeómon wiggling away in the grass on Route 103 filled me with nostalgia, just like taking your crew to the Pokeómon center or buying a few new balls for capturing wild monsters. I’d tell you to drop everything and use a tail whip to get some credit for the Nintendo eShop, but you’ll have to check on GameRevolution for that. We’ll bring you more Pokeómon coverage as we get closer to launch. Make sure to check for video, screenshots, and more.
