| RoboAwesome's Bit.Trip Presents...Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (Wii U) Review
Added: 02.04.2013 16:18 | 21 views | 0 comments
"At its core, Runner 2 plays just like the first Runner game. It is an auto-run platformer, which means the characters forward movement is automatic and it is up to the player to initiate actions that will keep the character from face planting into the insane amount of obstacles between him and the finish line. While this isnt a wholly original idea, it is one of the first games of this type that incorporated rhythm elements into its game. Once you get the hang of the beat, its all a matter of having fast enough reflexes to be able to predict the correct timing of your life saving button presses." - RoboAwesome.com

GR-UK writes: "Players take to their spaceships and battle through a variety of increasingly challenging levels. As they go they pop off shots to the beat of a pulsating techno soundtrack, dodging a barrage of objects and enemy projectiles as they go. Early attempts will likely end up in repeated death, but with practice coordinating movement and timing becomes easier, though it's never a cruise through the stars."

Dave Payerle writes: The original Bit.Trip Runner made me feel old; not because of the retro look and sound, but because I didnt feel like my reflexes were fast enough to play it. Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien allows for relaxed difficulty, while still expanding on the original formula. Its a good combination that makes the title well suited to both new players and those who enjoyed the original.

Adam of BagoGames reviews BIT.TRIP Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien for the PC: Sure its kind of niche, if you target an audience that wants a challenge in dexterity. And maybe ones who are a bit slower of touch, or a tad clumsy may get a little frustrated with the precision required. But put simply, FLORA is game that has learned every lesson from its forebear, and has evolved into a compelling, polished title that will provide a worthy gaming experience for every hardcore gamer.

From the review on PBandAwesome.com: "...when 'BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien' was announced, it should be no surprise that I was pretty darn happy. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the new aesthetics of the game, but I knew that the game play would still be solid. I got even more excited about it when the developers said that the Wii U version was the best console version of the game. Could the game ever dream to live up to my lofty expectations?"

OnlySP Writes: The first Bit Trip Runner was always that game I both loved and hated. Its side-scrolling rhythm-based platforming was as enjoyable as it was completely brutal and infuriating. The control scheme demanded precision and each level was significantly more difficult than the last. Later worlds and levels proved impervious to my level of skill, which drove me away from ever finishing it. The first thing I thought when I heard Runner 2 was announced was Oh dear lord, what dark rage-infested experience could top the original?
