GI: One of the most divisive fighting game series makes its way onto the new-gen consoles with Dead or Alive 5: Last Round. Dead or Alive 5: Last Round Review | NZGamer

Added: 27.02.2015 10:11 | 4 views | 0 comments

NZG: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is the third, and last, iteration of Dead or Alive 5. It's also the most complete version yet, featuring five new fighters and two new stages. It seemed as though DoA was taking after a certain "Capcom fighter" with multiple versions of what is essentially the same game - not forwarding the main series for a while there. For those new to DoA5, or DoA in general, the story mode runs through each of the characters that were in the original version with a few rounds per character to familiarise players with their various styles and movesets. The problem is that new entrants who debuted it Ultimate and this game aren't included in this mode. In addition, it's set to a high difficulty, and might be a struggle for some players to beat.

Metro: Gamings most controversial fighter comes to Xbox One and PS4, with upgraded graphics, two new characters, and a breast physics option. Ask anyone to name the first thing that comes to mind when they think of fighting game franchise Dead Or Alive, and theyre almost certainly going to say boobs. Or, depending on their feelings on the matter, sexism. Thats not really a good sign for an almost two decade old franchise, that has always struggled for legitimacy in the face of other more technical fighters. But Dead Or Alive has been making progress, even if this latest release is a very small step along that path.
