PlayStationing writes: "Sacred 2: Fallen Angel released to generally favourable views, and was loved by it's fanbase completely. However, Sacred 3 is the first major sequel to release in the franchise that was not developed by Ascaron Entertainment, who filed for bankruptcy in 2009. I've not had much experience with this franchise myself, apart from a few hours on Sacred 2, so I'm reviewing this as a newbie to the franchise, and looking into what the fans of the franchise think as well."

Six years after the release of Sacred 2, Deep Silver have resurrected the series with Sacred 3. However, it is not the game that fans expected rather than keeping to the fantasy RPG, open-world style of Sacred 2, Keen Games has moved into a more linear arcade style. Is Sacred 3 holy or ungodly in the eyes of its fans?

'Overall, Sacred 3 is a fairly relaxed arcade game that tampers with the much-loved grind-centric formula. It unquestionably does its best to retain the Sacred aesthetic and develop the characters and landscapes of Ancaria but what does that leave you with? It leaves you with a game so pick-up-and-play-able that it will somehow now appeal to even more gamers than just Sacreds original core audience. In my opinion, thats a smart move. For a game so reliant on multiplayer action the bigger the audience, the better the experience. Good job, Deep Silver!" says Gamerwho's Gary Marston.

The Sacred series has always been a little goofy. How goofy? Sacred 2: Fallen Angel featured an in-game concert from the metal band Blind Guardian complete with a monster-filled mosh pit. That silly tone is intact in Sacred 3, but substantial elements from the previous games havent made the cut. Whether you enjoy the remaining slices ultimately depends on whether you value arcade-style hack-and-slash action over open-world exploration.

ThisisXbox: "Sacred 3 tells the story of five heroes working together to stop the evil Lord Zane from retrieving the Heart of Ancaria and opening the gates of the Underworld and unleash its armies on the world of Ancaria. This is the third game in the series but the first under developer Deep silver who acquired the license from the original developer Ascaron Entertainment. This is my first time with the series so can it do justice to the popular series?"
