Gamesradar- Sacred Citadel Review

GR:Some games leave you wondering why they shipped with half-baked multiplayer modes. Sacred Citadels obvious finale will leave you wondering why it shipped with a half-baked story. Thankfully, the enjoyable combat steals the spotlight, though it doesnt come away unblemished. One of the greatest compliments a game can pay its players is to trust them with handling challenging, dynamic scenarios, and this one delivers on that front more often than not. Despite some frustrating enemies and ludicrously overpowered player abilities, Sacred Citadel is an excellent choice for gamers looking for a fun multiplayer romp.

FTG Writes: The Sacred series of games has always lived in the shadow of competitor Diablo as an isometic hack-and-slash loot-driven action roleplaying game. However, Deep Silver and SouthEnd have taken a different approach to their downloadble prequel to Sacred 3 with Sacred Citadel, a 2D sidescrolling beat-em-up reminiscient of games like the soon-to-be-remade Capcom arcade classic Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom. Released on PSN, XBLA as well as Steam for PCs, does Sacred Citadel work its way out from under the shadow of much better titles?

"...what hurts this game more than anything else is that it is so ridiculously easy to the point of being boring. If you have a hankering for a beat 'em up / RPG hybrid, you can do better than Sacred Citadel."

SideQuesting.com:
"In this sophomore and sophomoric Quest Log, Steven and Eric take a look at the newly released game from SouthEnd, Sacred Citadel. Much is spoken but nothing is said, but damn, that music is dope! Steven plays for the Kelloggs sportsmen team, and Eric is blown away that Steven doesnt know literally anything about sports.
Sacred Citadel is available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360."

PCGMedia reviews Sacred Citadel for PC:
"Sacred Citadel is perhaps *too much* of a throwback to Golden Axe. £12.99 is too high to pay for a game that tries to do something new, but fails because of an endless-combo bug/exploit, and character stats that aren't really as important as DPS. Casual fun for half the price, but too steep at £12.99"

GI:Sacred Citadel is a brawler spin-off of the Sacred RPG series, but you don't have to be familiar with the original games to enjoy this new entry. Yes, you're running around the world of Ancaria, one of the playable characters is a Seraphim, and there are plenty of other touchstones to be found. To newcomers, it's all standard fantasy tropes like burning villages and powerful artifacts.
