Gamer Limit: "Sanctum 2 puts a bit too much emphasis on the FPS aspect of the game. I understand that moving from a predominately tower defense flavored game into FPS territory will garner more sales, but I cant help but feel like some of the magic was lost from the original. There are plenty of FPS games out there, but not nearly as many unique tower defense titles, and practically no hybrids of the two genres. Even still, Sanctum 2 is a very serviceable shooter in its own right, and very much a worthwhile experience for fans of the genre even if fans of the original may want to wait for a sale or a few patches."

Metal Arcade: JJ Evangelista writes: Sanctum 2 is an addicting and amazingly fun romp through an imaginative science fiction landscape. I've only been a fan of real time strategy and tower defense games for the last few years; they were never something I played when I was younger. I have totally been missing out! Those who know me are aware that I am terrible at first person shooters, but enjoy playing them if there's enough fantasy involved. Sanctum 2 does a beautiful job of bringing these two genres together.

The 2011 title from Coffee Stain Studios was one of the first games to blend together the tower defense and first-person shooter genres. But you don't need to have a full knowledge of the series to appreciate what the Swedish indie developer has created. Sanctum 2 offers a superb shooting experience, though one that's meant more for friends than solo players.

Sanctum 2 is a first person tower shooter defence game, or FPSTD I suppose? A sequel to the 2011 game that impressed many, with it being one of the better implementations of mixing FPS and TD together.
