Kevin from Denkiphile: "Styx: Master of Shadows is a prequel that takes place in the same universe as Cyanide Studios previous Of Orcs and Men, an action-RPG that put you in the shoes of an orc and goblin pair as they fight the oppressive Empire of Man. Unlike Of Orcs and Men, however, the only character you play here is Styx, which makes sense, since his names on the cover. The storys a little contrived (the most glaring example would be Styxs amnesia) but gets the job done. I just wish that the rest of the game did too."

"Styx almost feels like a quite literal step back in time to when full performance capture was barely even on the horizon and when games didnt hold your hand and let you get away with mistakes. There are numerous flaws that definitely detract from the game, and these things are indicative of the smaller studio and production compared to modern AAA games, but then again, Styx costs nowhere near as much and knows what it wants to be: a hardcore stealth game."

Shadows Of Mordor will probably be one of them. A Lord Of The Rings game that dives from the usual gameplay types that the series has done before and instead goes completely open world.

MonsterVine: "Cyanide Studios introduced players to Styx the sneaky goblin in their 2012 game Of Orcs and Men, and this time theyre taking us back a few years to give us a prequel focusing on the origins of Styx."
