Cyanide Studios have a reputation for making interesting but not-my-cup-of-tea fantasy games. Styx: Master of Shadows is, in our opinion, their best game so far. In the game, you play as the titular Styx as he sneaks around the Tower of Akenash, a fortress city built high above in the clouds, like Columbia but strapped to the ground.

Usually when you feel like youve experienced most of the game within the first few hours, the long road ahead is likely going to be a fairly boring one. Like when youre driving a couple of hours to your holiday destination; The ride is most certainly going to be the same throughout so youre often looking forward to the next service station so you can have a bathroom break and hope to god that they stock Krispy Kreme donuts. In a sense Styx: Master of Shadows feels pretty much like that long journey to Wales, but thankfully offers many metaphorical service stations along the way.

Ken McKown writes: The stealth genre has never been front-runner for my favorite type of game. Sure I have enjoyed various Splinter Cell titles, and Metal Gear Solid is my all-time favorite series, but the idea of patience in a game has never clicked very well for me. Combine that with the fact that Styx isnt exactly a household name, and this latest ID@Xbox title did little to excite me upon its release. That is until I sat down and played it.
