Styx: Master of Shadows Die Harder (HD)

Added: 18.09.2014 17:37 | 4 views | 0 comments

Styx: Master of Shadows, is a challenging, skill-based infiltration game from Cyanide Studio that rewards player skill, timing, and lateral path finding, coming October for download on PS4®, Xbox One® and PC for #036;29.99/€29.99/£24.99. Clambering up into the rafters and dispatching enemies in some of the many ways previously seen goes only some way to keeping Styx alive, the rest is up to you. In this video, we fail at doing that. Even though Styx is a gifted goblin – with six base skill trees, and one special tree to subvert, assassinate and sneak past the enemies – his journey through the Tower of Akenash definitely won’t be a cakewalk. Enemies react promptly to the goblin’s presence: stick your nose out of the shadows for half a second too long, make too much noise slicing the throat of a guard or bumping a piece of furniture you did not notice, and they will come investigate, search for you under tables, inside any containers or chests you may be hiding in, and call in other guards for help depending on their level of “alertness”. We have also previously seen that Styx is gifted in the arts of amber magic: amber vision, cloning himself, and even good-old fashioned invisibility. Yet, while these useful skills might save his skin in dangerous situation, they will drain his precious reserves of Amber, which is scantily scattered throughout the Tower of Akenash. As such, special skills will have to be used with great care, especially when it comes to turning invisible: it drains amber extremely quickly - and even then, not every enemy will be fooled by such… transparent tricks. When cornered, you will be able to parry yourself out of a situation… however, this is definitely not a silent option, and if you find yourself facing even just a few enemies at once, you’re goblin toast. Purists will even be able to select the Goblin Mode difficulty, which means that whenever Styx is caught, he has no chance to fight back. Instead, he’ll be shot, strangled, hammered, or sliced into pieces the second he’s in range and noticed… Styx Master of Shadows is downloadable this October on PS4®, Xbox One® and PC at #036;29.99/€29.99/£24.99.

The Sega Dreamcast just celebrated its 15 birthday and the development community for the console continues to grow. It is always interesting to see what developers are doing with a console that console that is 15 years old and sometimes we are still able to get some pretty cool gems out of the console, like Elysian Shadows which just completed a successful Kickstarter campaign raising over $180,000 in funding. SLaVE appears to be another one of those gems, and unlike Elysian Shadows, it is being developed exclusively for the Sega Dreamcast.

Styx: Master of Shadows Attack of the Clone Trailer (HD)

Added: 11.09.2014 18:24 | 2 views | 0 comments

Styx: Master of Shadows, Cyanide Studio’s dark-fantasy infiltration game, is a murderous adventure rewarding skill, timing, reflexes and a keen eye for detail. Coming October for download on PS4®, Xbox One® and PC, your skulk through the Tower of Akenash will see you surrounded at all times by hordes of powerful enemies, which calls for reinforcements, in the form of a regurgitated clone! Styx’ clone is one of the four Amber-fuelled powers that serve as Styx’ base skills (along with 7 skill trees). Creating a clone opens new potential strategic and tactical opportunities, such as distraction, the ability to blind multiple targets, and lure them to a desired location before tumbling objects onto them. As with all of Styx’ amber-fuelled skills, this uses the rare amber… and you will need to act swiftly, as clones aren’t exactly “stable” and will deteriorate quickly before imploding! Having unlocked all of the skills from the 7 available skill trees in Styx: Master of Shadows, we’ve previously seen the nimble Styx overcome some of the weaker enemies in the game susceptible to his stealth abilities and dagger… but skills come at a cost, and the Amber to use them is scarce throughout the Tower of Akenash. For example, Styx’ Invisibility skill drains quickly, and uses half your maximum reserve of Amber: you’ll be required to rely primarily on your ability to sneak, plan and time your approach. Carefully scour the area from above, or watch from the shadows for the perfect moment to deploy your clone – a controllable hunk of flesh able to distract and blind the enemy, hiding in crates to pull them to living deathtraps, or access areas closed to Styx and open new pathways. Styx’ clone is the ultimate ephemeral companion, and the right mix of distraction and skill will open hundreds of opportunities to exploit games in the guards’ patrols. Styx can always rely on his clone – but unable to defend itself, get caught in the light, and the entire Tower will descend upon him.
